What kool aid?
Should have could have would have. A win is a win and something to celebrate. So is first place. So is seeing the offense waking up.
IMO, it's a loser mentality to pick apart a win and say they should have lost. Two different ways of looking at things.
Were mistakes made? Sure. They can be corrected.
Why is it a loser mentality to be overly critical when a sure win becomes a nail biter because of continued manager ineptitude?
An isolated mistake is correctable not continued mistakes that may have been as heartbreaking as a loss can be notwithstanding injuring Diaz.

All fair questions. I agree that May could have been left in to pitch the ninth.
haven't read the entire thread so forgive me if this was covered. The ESPN play by play guy asked ARod what was the reason that May couldn't pitch the ninth after a 1-2-3 ten pitch 8th inning. With the expert analysis we can only get from ARod his response was UUH.
Take out a guy who cruised through his inning with a 4 run lead to bring in your closer in a non save situation. Now both guys are most likely unavailable Monday in St. Louis as it would be their third day in a row.

I’m done with this team! Between the stupidity of Rojas; the ineptitude of Lindor and Diaz - it’s impossible to watch. No need for Diaz in that situation and when he doesn’t have it - get his ass out of there. Dude has no heart or determination to win.
It was mentioned on WFAN this morning that Diaz went up to Rojas and said that his back was tight. So you’re going to have your closer with a jacked up back pitch the 9th inning in a non save situation?

It's not too early to fire Rojas, especially when players are put in situations that may lead to injuries. I fault Diaz for trying to pitch when he knows his back is giving him some discomfort. I blame Rojas for mismanaging his pitchers. It was not a save situation, and you knew the Mets have 7 straight games over the next week. Plan accordingly. Now neither Diaz nor May is available today against St. Louis.

Full disclosure: I'm not too fond of Rojas and want him gone ASAP. Any misstep by Rojas is one more reason for him to go. Didn't want him last year as the manager. IMO Rojas is a big part of why the Mets continue to underachieve.

I also love when you get the answer that he's the 8th inning guy. I heard a great comment by David Cone about bringing in so many relievers. He said when you bring in 3 to 4 relievers in a game when the first couple relievers are pitching well, the odds say you are going to get to someone who is lousy that day.

Think it’s definitely time for a Pillar / Smith platoon or maybe Pillar full time for time being. He’s swinging the bat well.
Dom has had 2 hits in each of the last 2 games including 2 doubles last night and he's the one you want to sit? LOL. And I'd bet almost anything that I could go back and find recent posts of you probably blasting Pillar as another bum added to the team by the front office.

And it's B.S to say it's a bad win anyway. So many times we've seen the team lie down after a blow like Gregorius' 3 run homer. But they got up off the deck and fought back to get the win.

Go ahead and find a post about me blasting the signing of Pillar. Guess what? Wont find it. I liked the signing and Pillar needs to find ABs. Good to see Smith being 5 for his last 14 which is a terrific sign but I also see someone who hasn’t hit a HR in 15 games and is hitting .215 in his last 15 games and is struggling against lefties and off speed stuff. Pillar looked really good last night with the bat. Would you agree? If so, would you continue to bat a hot hand? If so, who do you sit? Guess it could be Nimmo if he’s injured.
They're the worst. And that's saying something.
Sorry to upset you. If you disagree with any of my thoughts, I love to debate them with you. Shoot away!

Maybe platoon him with Nimmo then who was coming back to the player he is before getting hurt.

Davis to IL. Hildenberger recalled. Mets will go with a 14 man staff and 4 man bench. Actually 3 man bench tonight, assuming Nimmo is still unavailable.

Was there any doubt the pitching wouldn’t yield another run as long as our offense packed it in at 5 🤦‍♂️

Lindor has left 6 runners on base tonight so far and he’s still batting 2nd...smh
Sobering thought... the 10 year contract starts in 2022 and ends in 2032. Lost decade for the Mets. I hope they find a way to void the contract.

Mazeltov ! Chili Davis and the Assistant Hitting Coach fired ! Now hopefully Rojas to follow shortly as well !

Hopefully it's a sign that Cohen and Alderson don't accept failure and /or patheticness !

Team and Organization need Professionals in the dugout - not buffoons like Rojas and his minion !

When your $341 M Investment is hitting .160 and lost, it does not look good for Chili; Rojas etc nor does Alonso quoting a fictional hitting coach.

Barring a big time winning streak etc - Rojas will be gone by June. He got his chance this year which he truly didn;t deserve and continues to manage horribly in game and lacks motivational skills

In case anyone cares about who is replacing Davis and Slater, here's the press release. Interesting that neither Quattelbaum (the new hitting coach) nor Howard (his assistant) have Mets backgrounds. Both joined the Mets this year from other organizations.

SNY crew speculating firings were due to Davis not accepting analytics approach - the new baseball. Truth be told, results were not there. Most of team is a mess offensively especially Lindor and change was needed. Hopefully these new hitting instructors can fix Lindor; Conforto; McNeil, Smith and McCann.
