OT: Official 2021 NY Mets Season Thread

Minor League Baseball resumes today after a one year absence! Mets have four full season teams:

Syracuse - AAA (Jordan Yamamoto is the Opening Day starter)
Binghamton - AA
Brooklyn - High A
St. Lucie - Low A

The linked article lists the Mets Top 30 prospects and where they will begin the season. As you will note, the best prospects are not yet close to being MLB ready. Some will begin in extended spring training, and then I guess will stay in Florida for the Rookie League there, or go to Dominican Summer League.

Looks like if you want to see the Mets of the future, Brooklyn is the place to be!

SNY crew speculating firings were due to Davis not accepting analytics approach - the new baseball. Truth be told, results were not there. Most of team is a mess offensively especially Lindor and change was needed. Hopefully these new hitting instructors can fix Lindor; Conforto; McNeil, Smith and McCann.
The below article supports the SNY theory. Here is the key excerpt IMO:

Acting general manager Zack Scott said this decision was not made based on 23 games worth of production, but rather that the Mets needed coaches that understood “the process under the hood.”
“This is a really difficult decision to make," said Scott. “But the reason we felt like it was the right decision was, it's based more on kind of a vision for what we want our Major League hitting program to be. I'm not going to dive too deep into those details to reveal what that vision is necessarily, but there are certain things that you know.

You don't want to be the opposition when Lindor breaks out of this epic slump. He's too good for it not to happen. Still provides stellar shortstop defense which the Mets needed.

So in other words, stop slapping the ball the other way and get your launch angles in check... or else!!!

The whole team is in an offensive funk. And apparently, the hitting coach didn't take to the Front Office's analytics approach and got himself sh*tcanned for it.

He peaked in 2018 and has been trending downward since. And there honestly wasn't a huge track record of years of performance there before that. Not only has he been bad, but he has been one of the worst regulars in the game so far. I understand last year was an aberration, but the Mets have 10 more years after this year to go on this guy at $34m per. He still brings elite defense, but I think the Mets may regret signing him now vs at the end of the season.

It fully fits within the Mets tradition to have Lindor wash out right after we sign him.
He was average last year. I'm not panicking yet but add up the stats from last year and this. Basically half a season. Not pretty.

Results matter. Aren't the Mets last in MLB in hitting for this season ?
last in runs per game. last in HR's 26 in Slg....that is the bad news - absolute lack of power. Area's that are not so bad 9th in BA, 5th in OBP According to money ball - they wouldn't be all that bad hahaha

Mazeltov ! Chili Davis and the Assistant Hitting Coach fired ! Now hopefully Rojas to follow shortly as well !

Hopefully it's a sign that Cohen and Alderson don't accept failure and /or patheticness !

Team and Organization need Professionals in the dugout - not buffoons like Rojas and his minion !
I think its a sign that Cohn reads this board and understands we know what's best for the team.

I know its a conspiracy theory, but I am convinced Sojo is actually Chris Ash in disguise. There are many disturbing similarities. #FenceFlushing.

Hitting refresh awaiting the lineup and hoping Lindor is batting anywhere but 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th.

“He’s getting further tests right now and we’re waiting to see some results,” Rojas said of deGrom.

Yes, we are ALL waiting.

I posted earlier that Jordan Yamamoto was all set to pitch on Opening Day for Syracuse. Instead, he is now on his way to St. Louis. Maybe he gets to the park in the third inning and he takes the mound in the fifth. Miguel Castro is starting tonight. Anything he gives us beyond three innings (maybe just two innings) is a bonus.

I am glad the last few posts have been about team info and news. The previous page by 2-3 posters were enough to make me almost never log back in again....
Last few pages aw to be about the misfortunes of Lindor; Rojas; Diaz etc. Why do critical constructive comments not get appreciated / respected on the board in lieu of everything is going to turn out all great? Trust me if you went onto Actual NY Mets Forums - its a lot uglier over there with comments and posts about Lindor; Rojas etc.
We all want the Mets to do well. They’re out team but when things go sour - we vent and what is wrong with that?

Uh Oh. He was given an extra day between starts about 1-2 weeks ago if I recall. Let’s hope it’s nothing serious. Fingers crossed.

Sounds like Castro will start. Jordan Yamamoto brought up for bullpen

Critical constructive comments are great and welcome but it was anything but...I think each of you got your points across in a single post- didn’t need 3 or 4 more just to make sure we all know how you guys fell 😀 I understand the frustration though, it was just a rough page of complaining to get through.
Bigger worries now with the only reason to watch the Met’s.,,

Jacob having MRI tonight on right side of his body. He felt tightness while warming up. Results expected tonight. Fingers crossed.

Batting 2nd again

Hate to say it but put him on the 10 day IL to ensure he does not aggravate the injury. It’s a marathon - not a sprint.
I suspect that will happen. They can backdate it since his last appearance. It's already been five days.
