My feeling is you win or lose with your best - not with your best on the bench.

My confidence level is 100x greater with Mc Neil - even in a slump - hitting against a lefty than Nido with the game on the line
I have come to agree with you on this, due to this simple rationale: If the situation were reversed, no one would have even suggested that Nido hit for McNeil.

Mets pitching allows for good rotation match ups against all the weaker teams they play in the second half.
It could very well mean Atlanta still wins the division because quite simply they are the better team.
So, it looks like the wild card will hold firm
Agreed.

The division is going to come down to those 12 remaining games against the hated Braves. Once it tightened up it always was. Mets have good enough starting pitching to continue to stifle those Braves bats as good pitching can always do. But will they make the good moves to inject some life into this offense?

Sometimes it’s just that simple.
Think about these analogies, 3rd and 5 and Bo is not on the field…who’s happy, the opposing defensive coordinator and D backs.
Nido hitting instead of McNeil, who’s happy, the opposing manager and defense.
Coming from an ex player perspective and middle infielder, we all communicated with each other based on fear, making the play and number one, the ball getting hit hard somewhere.
If I’m the short stop and McNeil is up in that situation, our communication level on each pitch would be high.
With Nido up, seriously, I’d more worried about the wild pitch or defending the double steal then him driving the run in.

Seems weird that we start pursuing Bell after trading for a guy to be an only left-handed DH. Which is a role that Bell could better fill. Along with that of a right-handed DH

Isn't it obvious? We can't hit. We can't score. We've scored 10 runs total in our last 5 games. Been shut out 5 times in our last 40 something games. In most of the others we've scored 1-3 runs. Scored tonight only because of a bleeder that dropped in the shallow outfield. That's the kind of offense we were winning lots of games with earlier. But bloopers and seeing eye hits are not a sustainable offense. Scouting reports are going to be adjusted. Teams are going to play the outfield a little more shallow so less of those bloopers drop in. Teams are going to shift less against you. You've got to be able to drive the ball. Other teams get a mistake and hit it 400 feet. We get one and foul it away or pop it up. In hitters counts. Not to mention how many down the middle fastballs we either swing right through or look at. Just before flailing at a pitch 6 inches low and away or down and in at the ankles.
Need to be able to slug, I agree. It seems like the Mets have the same issue the padres do lol.

Although Tatis coming back changes a lot.

Duvall out for year. Sadly this type of stuff just spurs them on to do more. 🤦‍♂️

Alonso, Vogelbach, Guillorme, Nido…damn that’s a lot of extra pounds on the base paths…if they get there.

Vogelbach looks like my cleanup hitter in my adult softball league. Better get a HR or he just clogs the basepath

If I am the catcher t pry I don’t have to protect the plate

This is an out of shape shape softball team. Has to be the slowest team in the majors now.

Yeah you guys need some slugging. No reason you shouldn’t have picked up at least 1 run there.

Booo birds are making an appearance
Nido sucks
and Keith said last night Nimmo has changed his swing/follow thru
