I got all excited last year with Turner and Scherzer reports so I’m just going with the flow this season.
I just hope we don’t fvck up like last season getting pieces that don’t actually help us.
I think Happ and Contrares would get this team to the NLCS. They don’t get us past the Doyers though.
Good point. Properly filtered, Twitter can be great. Most of my Twitter feed are exercise and diet people, and it has been an invaluable source of information on great papers, podcasts, videos, etc. Mets and Rutgers stuff is like here, a diversion and entertainment. I don't engage with Mets people on Twitter. For Rutgers, sometimes.
If you believe the reports, he was never going to be on the Mets. They were going to flip him to the Cubs. Moot now of course.
That was my understanding too, but now we just suffer and watch him continue to rake against us

Man- our entire starting staff has been deGrommed over the past 2 weeks- our guys have pitched 11 games to under a 1.60 era and show a 3-3 record. To make it worse- the entire staff era is 2.14 in that same span. and only a 6-5 record.
BTW- McNeil either has to sit or be confirmed he isn't getting traded...Looks like such a different player. First 50 games, his swing and approach looked slump proof. LAst 30 games or so- maybe the worst hitter in baseball.

Players are human, and it plays with your mind when you hear stuff like being traded. Most of what is out there is just rumors, but players don't know what's true or not. Remember Wilmer Flores and how much all the stuff around him impacted him. These guys are fully invested in being a member of the Mets.
This is what happened with Hosmer last season. Even added Frazier who was an obvious addition with plans to deal Hosmer before he was actually dealt. Screwed the entire team up.
It’s crazy how open MLB talks are about trades, you would think front offices would keep this stuff under wraps.
That and combined with personal stuff, and that can get in the way too. Hosmer got engaged after the 2020 season and got married last year. McNeil and his wife just had their first kid. Some will deny it, but big off the field events like marriage and babies have an impact too. Players have lives outside of baseball.

Finally found a station to watch the game where I dont have to subject myself to those Braves announcers. I swear they are the worst I've ever heard.
Two straight losses for the chop bums. Hopefully tomorrow Aaron Nola makes it three! But of course we have to take advantage.
I'll be at both Mets - Yankees games tomorrow and wednesday night. Looking forward ! Could have sold my tickets for nice bucks but these games hopefully will be special given the records / standings etc.
There is certainly a lot of smoke in the Twitterverse. Mancini is not in the O's lineup tonight, so there's that.
