Just watched the replay of Pete's bomb- guy goes almost 400 ft to right center and didn't even take a full swing- that is crazy. crazy good for us :)

The platoon DH was was a sneaky good play
by Eppler. And I have been hard on Eppler not getting a catcher and more relief help but credit is due with the DH.

By getting Vogelbach and Ruf, two specialists vs their platoon, you basically have another Alonso if they hit the way they have throughout their career. 850+ OPS.

Will be interesting to see how Buck plays it in a big game if let’s say 5th inning the other team takes their starter out and brings in a lefty. Do you pinch Ruf right away? Knowing he’ll have to face righties the rest of the way?

Downside is that they are terrible vs their opposite platoon. Useless almost. So a deep and versatile pen will cause issues there.

Pitchers are doing well with Nido behind the plate. Not sure you mess with the chemistry. You can carry Nido‘s bat now that you are getting a decent return from our 2 headed DH

SIAP - Bleacher Report is the first scouting service to rerank its Top 100 prospects to include 2022 draft signings. Mets have four in the Top 100

#1 - Francisco Alvarez
#24 - Brett Baty
#59 - Kevin Parada
#98 - Alex Ramirez

Mauricio, Vientos, and Jett Williams are Honorable Mention, which is #101-150.

First Mets appearance but Givens looked horrible. 5 earned runs, 5 hits (including 2 bombs) in 2/3 of an inning.

Knight Shift still thinks Kyle Flood was great as a Head Coach at Rutgers so his talent evaluation skills are suspect at best. Mets didn't hit a home run at the trading deadline but did get nice needed pieces. Too many players for Ruf? I don't think so. You go for this year and sometimes overpay. As long as none of the prospects becomes a future All Star it is a good move.
Ehh . He liked flood and he is wrong for still defending him . He is not totally wrong in those points , although I disagree. But guy seems like a good and dedicated fan .

Was going to say- is putting Givens in on his first day after a trade just getting off the plane, the best move?

Doesn't matter- we had it in hand but will like to see the next 30 days without this mess included...he is a good pitcher.

Team is starting to like the first 50 game team but a little less SB's. and I am sure because of the Marte groin injury.

Starting pitching has been as lights out as a staff can be over the past 30-40 games.

DH position is finally a plus for us.

Nimmo and McNeil look to be back on track and Pete with bombs. 8-1 over last 9...really cant complain

And as I would have loved to improved C spot- Nido has been very good with the pitchers and does seem to be getting much better with the bat.

If only- we got a lefty RP...but I do think we addressed DH in a great way. Who else could have really produced like V&R at DH? talking .260 BA 20+ HR almost 900 OPS...there may be 5 DH in the league that are hitting those numbers

Maybe we chill with the over reactions on Givens. First time out in a new uni. Not ready to write him off yet.
Can’t judge him on a game like that IMO.

You want to see how he does when he’s in a tight spot and laser focused. Then you make your judgments.

He is a dedicated fan. But even he knows he is lying that Kyle Flood was a good HC. He just can't admit he was so wrong about how terrible he was as a HC. You can't use his excuses about his success as a line coach and a kind of a offensive coordinator in name only to prop up his HC resume. They are completely different jobs.

Doesn’t pass eye test ,80 mph junk pitcher

You can say smith stunk but he has a 98 mph fastball and just needs better control and pitch selection.
Lopez was hitting 98-99

I hope am I wrong , I hope this post is quoted in Late October/November

Basing this on one game. If we based Diaz on last year being terrible we would have written him off. Good thing we did not. Givens should be fine. We at least have to see him more than just today

Diaz throws 100 mph
and was baffling on how anyone could get a hit off him.
Again I want to be really really really wrong. Just don’t see it

Not sure if Maddox or Glavin ever hit 93 but regardless. Give the guy more than an inning. He has had a good career and a good year based on 40+ innings

here is our problem as fans- win 8 of 9 games with another blowout- and we freak about innings and a single game. We see a Phil or Atl or LA etc win and we never look at the individual inning or the game they lost during that hot streak- let’s take Atl again and talk after that.
We are actually, still in the driver seat.

if we lose it against Atl- different story but we are coming in hot.

you get upset if a Met fan comes into the yankee thread to even just talk baseball without even trolling but you feel it is ok to come into the Met thread to blast a great poster, Met fan and huge RU fan and supporter with your BS about RU football?
I'm thinking someone may just be drinking to much without female companionship... not say that is you as I hope you are not that pathetic. It was just a thought that came into my head as I enjoyed another win.

If you watch Vogelbach swing, he puts no body / leg action into the ball. It’s purely arm strength. Just think what he could do if he lost weight and could move his legs and body into the ball.

He would hit the same way and not be a major leaguer.

With a 9-0 lead, I thought it was the perfect time to get his feet wet. Still do.
