And just like that, whatever you want to call them, The Mutts, The JV or The Clown Show, we are now tied with the once great franchise across the bay. A mere 3 weeks ago, they were chanting a 120 wins, not so fast there Sparky. 😁 ⚾ 🎺 Who was that great Yankee fan from
The Dead Zone that said, everyday is a little better when the Yankees win and the Mutts lose? So it's 6.5 if you want to start the countdown again in The Dead Zone, you know who you are. 😁 🎺 🎺 We even passed the Astros.

Anyone want to question Buck on his use of Diaz?

FLICK BVW AND FLICK THE WILPONS FOR HIRING MICKEY BALL AND MEL ROJAS INSTEAD OF BUCK SHOWALTER…

He would’ve righted the Mets a hell of a lot sooner than in 2022. He’s the difference.

Diaz for Cy Young?

The braves announcers are a little salty. Frenchy, who I liked as a Mets, seemed pissed beyond reason. Both agree their fans will show the Mets what a real "chop" is like done by real fans. Talk about being butt hurt. Smh.

Speaking of Clown Shows, who’s tv crew is worse: The Braves, Phillies, or Nationals?

I tried like hell to find the Braves broadcast for that Diaz inning. No love for anything Braves.
The braves announcers struggled to say a kind word about the Mets. Everything was about how much better they are as a team and fanbase. They continue to hang their hats on the Mets will fail because they don't hit hard balls. It's sad to see them in this position of getting *sses kicked.

Wouldn't expect anything else from such a group of unprofessionals. Fools still think they have a better team. Lol. Their record against better than .500 teams is about ten games under .500. Ours is about 10 games over.

Its a shame 2 plus decades of our baseball fandom lives were ruined by the Wilpons. Such incompetent owners who should have been forced to sell the team after the Madoff fiasco. When you have owners who don’t grasp the magnitude of NY and winning wasn’t the main objective - we became a meddling mediocre team with spurts of success.

And yet- over the past month- Mets are 40 points up on then in OPS.
Over the past 2 weeks- we have them by over 180 points in OPS...

Last month, we have them in pitching by better than a full ER

Cmon . The Yankees have nothing to do with this great weekend . Enjoy what transpired . Beat cincy

Justin Dunn season debut tomorrow
A terrible LHP Tuesday 1-9 6.19 ERA
and TBD ??? Wednesday afternoon

Besides DeGrom the biggest takeaway from this game is Joely Rodriguez for me. Having him as a legitimate option for Buck in the playoffs would be huge. I’m not sure Buck would go with him because teams don’t stack LH’s but just to have the option of a reliable LHP is big.

I don't totally agree with that assessment. Prior to the Madoff fiasco, there was no question about the Wilpons desire to win and their willingness to spend money to do it. They just weren't very good at it. Remember the worst team money could buy? Or how Omar put the "Minaya" in maniacal?

As you say, things changed when the Madoff empire collapsed and suddenly the Wilpons were cash poor. But they were never insolvent. MLB will force an owner to sell only because of insolvency, not incompetence.

True but IIRC did not the Wilpons have to borrow money from MLB during the Madoff aftermath? I also beleive it was the Wilpons close relationship with Selig that helped them secure the loans? I also recall them having to take on new investors to raise cash. While not insolvent they were certainly cash poor. Their fate may have been very different if the Trustee had decided to claw back all that Madoff cash from them.

Dude could end up with 150k’s as a closer.,,that is crazy. He has jumped into the MUST sign position at this point.
If you are right, he would be the first "must sign" reliever in the history of the game. Well maybe second, after Mariano Rivera.

Relievers don't get paid. The highest AAV for a reliever, depending on how you calculate it, is in the $17MM to $18MM range, While this may be an unimaginable sum for us mere mortals, it's less than the free agent Qualifying Offer amount. You know, that thing that a damaged Noah Syndergaard turned down. That's more than any reliever has EVER been paid.

There's a very good reason why relievers don't get paid. It's that they tend to be volatile from year to year. Case in point, the highest paid reliever (again, depending how you calculate it) is Aroldis Chapman. How's that working out right now?

Somebody will likely make Diaz the highest paid reliever in baseball history, perhaps with an AAV north of $20MM. Will that be the Mets? Should it be? I honestly don't know. Cohen can't pay everybody.

Who am I kidding. Of course Cohen can pay everybody. The question is, will he?
