The Mets are impatience at the plate. This dude isn't throwing strikes. The Mets are chasing that high pitch. There is a reason why a guy like Falter has a 4.60 era, but the Mets have a history of struggling against players they've never seen regardless of the quality of the pitcher. Also, three inches applies to every sport. That is literally the difference in every game.
