Bases loaded, tie score, bottom nine, a walk's a win, and hitter swings 3-0. My how the game has changed.

All's well that ends well

Willie Mays is one of two players to play for both the NY Giants and the NY Mets.
The other player did not play in the Polo Grounds for the Mets,if that's any help.
Both are still around.Willie is 91 and this player is 90.

Too bad we couldn't bring back Daniel Murphy for one last run, he'd have been a great rotational DH for us this year especially with his hitting style.

Was at Old Timers Game and it was a blast!
Crowd loved it and so did the players !
Some notable moments:

- 2 old timers got boos : Joe Torre and Mike Hampton
- Sad to see John Stearns. Believe he has cancer
- Some of the guys still can play: Endy Chavez / Mookie \ Reyes etc
- Murphy was really into game
- Wanted to see Darryl hit. He didn’t participate in the game
- There were rumors Darling was going to pitch to Keith. Neither participated in game
- Kudos to Steve Dillon

Was a great time ! When I was young in the 70s, I remember my parents taking me to Old Timers Game at Shea.

Brought back a lot of memories!

As this wonderful celebration moved forward, I got happier and happier with this great event celebrating the entire rich history of the Mets, and angrier and angrier at the Wilpons, who acted as if they only wanted to own the Brooklyn Dodgers. I’d never heard about what Joan Payson promised Willie, and I was angriest at that point. I guess the Wilpons just didn’t have time to get around to fixing that inexcusable failure to fulfill a promise. The Mets were the restart of all National League baseball in New York, not just the Dodgers. And the great Willie Mays was a Met. I was glad to see his number retired.

Yesterday was one of the few days—maybe the only one—where I’ve seen the Mets celebrate their entire history and all the things that make the franchise so great. I’m so glad that the Wilpons are gone. They were either oblivious to that history or didn’t care about it.

The Mets haven't been hitting for 2-3 weeks. It's about the third time this year that they've gotten into this funk.

If that fat F Vogelbach takes another strike out looking, I swear!

Lindor has hit the skids at a bad time. We need to win this one come hell or high water because the Dodgers are gonna be hell if we don't find some offense. They always seem to find a way to score. Top 4 in their lineup is lethal and they get just enough from the rest of their lineup.

Givens look good on a bad team. That gave a false impression he was better than what he had delivered as a Met.
Givens is here because:
  1. Buck remembered him from Baltimore.
  2. They gave up virtually nothing for him.
As mentioned, it will be interesting to see what happens when those four pitchers start coming off the DL.

The comedy routine is hilarious
For August (They both joined at end of July):
Vogelbach OBP, SLG and OPS are higher than Alonso, but Message Board Geniuses yell at him.

Naquin is a solid fielder. AVG, OBP, SLG and OPS are better than Alonso, and that is with him being in a slump. 🙄

Frustrating
Lindor 0-17
nakkuin has been putrid
Escobar Left handed has been awful
Vogel backwards K needs to swing

Can’t win em all , not going 33-0
Go Cards

Most importantly FTB
I think it's more like 0-19 for Lindor. Hopefully the Rockies can find a way to win one against the Braves but I doubt it. Both their lineup and rotation are pretty bad. So too was their pen said to be by Cohen. Can't tell by this series. One more thing. We've pinned a lot of postseason hopes on Max and Jake. What does it matter how good they are when we can barely score when they pitch? Oh well. Fingers crossed for the Cards. Cohen said it's been before the all-star break that the Mets and Braves have both lost on the same day. Really hope that ends tonight.

That is a statistical aberration which I do not expect to continue.

If I am wrong, and there really is some cosmic force which determines that the Mets will barely score when two specific pitchers are starting... well then who better than the two pitchers for whom "barely scoring" just might be enough!
