Now #Retire8 for Gary Carter and Yogi Berra.Mets just retired #24 for Willie Mays
I would say just for Carter. Yogi is a Yankee. Now #Retire8 for Gary Carter and Yogi Berra.
And Willie was a Giant. Honestly, what did he do with the Mets? At least Yogi took a Mets team who had no business being in the World Series to Game 7 as the manager.I would say just for Carter. Yogi is a Yankee.
You should have heard Cleon Jones comments on Willie and his time with the Mets a short time ago. You'd have your answer. And Willie was a Giant. Honestly, what did he do with the Mets? At least Yogi took a Mets team who had no business being in the World Series to Game 7 as the manager.
I wouldn't have retired Willie's number either. However, my input was not requested. And Willie was a Giant. Honestly, what did he do with the Mets? At least Yogi took a Mets team who had no business being in the World Series to Game 7 as the manager.
Cohen understands and respects the history of the organization. This was a promise by a previous owner and fulfilled by Cohen. I see Cohen turning the Mets into something like St. Louis Cardinals, and once you put that uniform on, you're a Cardinal for life. Make your history come alive and remind younger and newer fans what it is to be a part of the Met family (players & fans). And Willie was a Giant. Honestly, what did he do with the Mets? At least Yogi took a Mets team who had no business being in the World Series to Game 7 as the manager.
How often do pitchers do that? Far more often then they make an outstanding snag. Cards just got 2 back on HR. 4-2 Braves.FTB
Hard come backer that looked like SS had it for easy DP. Montgomery knocked it down for no outs ….next batter
DB Darnaud 3 R HR
That’s what Ron Swoboda said during an interview prior to the old timers game. Can some validate the story of Steve Cohen taking members of the '69 Mets to Cooperstown for Gil Hodges' induction to the HOF? That's a cool move by an owner who gets it. Former players are going to be seen a lot more around Citi Field. Fans will be able to connect with Mets' history.
He summed it up for most long time fans.
Kenny Rogers more walking in the game winning run in 99. Heart breaking.Aaron Heilman
The first two on your list are locks.Who would you pick as the most despised person in Mets history? Can be a player, coach or front office type. My top 5:
1. M. Donald Grant
2. The Wilpons
3. Bobby Bonilla
4. Richie Hebner
5. Dave Kingman
I only included Kingman because he was such an A-Hole to the fans and press. The first two on your list are locks.
I would not include Kingman. He was quite popular in his first Met tenure. Less so in the second.
Some possible replacements that come to mind are Vince Coleman, Luis Castillo, and today's honoree Doug Sisk.
Could miss significant time, not will. I'd just rest him for the year.Francisco Alvarez injured right ankle. Will miss significant time.
