I think the bridge will be Lugo in 7th inning and then Ottavino in 8th inning to Diaz in 9th.
Though I have to say Diaz has not dominated for the past 2 weeks. He’s been letting guys get on base.

It was the last 2 outings not 2 weeks. The run he gave up against the Phils was the first one in 2 months
I think you have to Go back to Phillies game at citifield 2 weekends ago. Since then, Diaz has been mortal - not dominant.

No pitcher at the big league level can maintain the level at which he was shutting teams down. 1,2, 3 EVERY inning with multiple strikeouts. Not against major leaguers.
Diaz has spoiled us this year. He has been so crazy good that we now almost feel he has had a bad game if he gives up a hit or only K’s 1 batter instead of 3.
It is like deGrom, when he gives up a run, it feels like he struggled

Wheeler might miss games vs Braves
Arenado might miss games vs Braves

It’s the reverse Rutgers basketball where the Leading scorer RETURNS for the game vs Rutgers.

FTB !

ICYMI - Eduardo Escobar played SS in a rehab game for Brooklyn last night. Buck said he's on track to come back later this weekend. He's eligible today. Will be interesting to see if he becomes the short term backup at SS and 2B, which would enable Baty to stay around.

Read better news on Wheeler. The Phils expect him to miss only 2 starts which would put him back by the time they play the Braves in mid-September.

The FCL Mets lost so their season is over. I'm also probably not going to be able to do any full reports until after Labor Day. I'll still pop with some stuff though.

It seems Parada hasn't played in awhile, is he hurt already?

I don't specifically care if Baty stays around, though I'd love for him to start hitting. I just want one of these guys to hit, Escobar preferably because he can field and is a smart baserunner. Baty's fielding is subpar. Even his throws have Pete stretching up and down the 3d base line pretty regularly. Not much of a base runner either. But heating up the bat would cure everything.

Agreed

On a different note- after last night's game- deGrom has pitched what is usually considered a full year if you combine the past 3. 32 starts since 2019.
His stats are just mind numbing in those 32 starts
189.1 innings 101 hits 36 er 31 BB 296 K 1.70 ERA 0.70 Whip

Bad send by Cora. McNeil did not get a good read on the ball, he hesitated around second base. Rockies missed the cutoff man and still got him.

I don’t disagree but it did take a perfect play to cut McNeil at plate. Maybe Baty vs lefty came into decision.

It wasn't a perfect play. The CF missed the cutoff man. Had he hit the cutoff, McNeil would have been out by a wider margin.

Maybe / Maybe Not. Throw could have been offline if cut off man was hit. Point is Cora is aggressive and rarely holds runners and also Baty vs lefty next up at plate may have forced Cora s hands.
