Amazing anyone can say “nothing” 1/4 of the season with an 8.5 lead..,And two top pitchers in the league out plus a 3rd starter and increasing lead, not just hanging on.
let’s try to enjoy what we are watching.
BTW- saw an arrival somewhere talking about how they just keep this up and getting lucky so many times with infield hits, throwing errors etc…
I will say it again- this is the 2015 Royals on offense. Put pressure on the pitcher and defense. They will make more mistakes.
Also- on base and getting hits are a lot more important than launch angle
Nothing in regards to a comeback can be made. It’s basically making up 3 games a month !! As we know Mets blew 7 games in 14 games

Agree that I’m enjoying what the Mets have been doing this year, playing real baseball instead of that Money Ball, Launch Angle, Sandy Ball crap that’s been played for the past few years. Especially with the top pitchers in baseball being out and the others in the rotation have picked up the slack.

BTW, as long as at least 4 COMPLETE PENNANT RACE MELTDOWNS since 2006 still fresh in our minds, Mets fans will not take anything for granted until we see them back in the World Series, let alone win it. No matter what excuses are thrown out there, they should’ve went to the playoffs at least twice since 2016.

A really cool factoid:

Nick Plummer hit a HR for his first major league hit. The last Met to do that was none other than pitching coach Jeremy Hefner. He did it exactly 10 years ago to the day! May 29, 2012.

As Casey used to say, you can look it up.
To make this factoid even cooler, Hefner's HR was also against the Phillies.

This is the type of offense I have been wanting for years.

If this was Clue the answer to who murdered the Nationals it was the Plummer with his bat at Citifield.

Going to be interesting to see how we can keep Guillorme in the lineup. OF is crowded. Maybe have a rotating DH with the OF and then keep Davis on bench.

Plummer brings more than Jankowski and Dom. Dom's days are numbered I think.

Even though JD has gotten a bit better the past few weeks- I keep Guilorme in the lineup anyway I can until he cools down.

And could you image in Plummer gets a triple in his next AB..would be one hell of a start to a career.

Yup. Dom is done. Time for a trade.

Interesting when you look at the upcoming schedule- Dodgers have only played 7 games against teams over .500. They have been very good 6-1 but still. SD has a losing record against teams over .500 and so does LAA. Met's are 9-5 against .500+

But yet the Dodgers is the best team in Baseball according to National media

I will be looking at the upcoming series vs the Dodgers as somewhat of a litmus test. Just remembering that it seems like we lost every game against them last year. Of course the caveat is that we won't have deGrom or Scherzer. Maybe when they come to NY?

Because they are. Their run differential is also double ours and that's with us playing so well.

Yeah I was looking at their run differential yesterday - it is disturbing.

Agree with everything said. Interesting to break down the Dodgers- at first glance, looks like their offense blows everyone away.
But if we start to compare starters on offense.
Our outfield compares very well. Dodgers have more power, we have more contact and higher BA/OBP. And both teams would be identical in runs and RBI's if projected on 162 games.

At 1B - Freeman is having a solid years with power a little down but Pete's year is blowing him away. At SS- both teams have the two top SS. Turner may have Lindor by a smidge but almost identical.
3B - Escobar and Turner about the same.
McNeil is blowing Lux away at 2B. They have us at C and DH until now that LG is playing.

So, the teams are really coming down to pitching. They do not seem to have down days while each of our starters will go 3-4 starts very good and then have a letdown day. And their middle relief is much better.

And they lead us by 1.0 games for best record. Just saying.

I shouldn't be surprised at Dom's demotion, given his recent mediocre performance, but I am.

So 14 pitchers and a three man bench. I assume that they would not have made this move unless McNeil and Nimmo are just about good to go.
I had completely glossed over the Dom demotion. Was reading/posting from my phone. I want Dom to succeed. Rough year for him.
