3.5 for Mets fans that were worried way too early and to the multitude of others in the you know where thread that seem to have an interest. 😉

I hear you. God did not make the human body to throw 101. I'd almost rather he threw easy 95 and relied on his considerable pitching acumen.
Will be great if he’s back say by end of month along with Max returning Tuesday.

When you think about how the Braves have been pretty injury free before Albies, pretty much just Soroka, and we have been without Max, Jake, Megill, May, McCann for much of the season…I sort of like our chances in the 2nd half.

He started getting hurt when he started throwing 100 on the regular. Agree that he should throw 95. He’s good enough to get hitters out throwing 95 with even better control.

Darling mentioned Verlander learned to throw 92-94 and in 6th or 7th inning he could/would dial it up to 97 if he needed to

Interesting-
The only reason i would disagree is because at this level the ball flies out of your hand without extra effort.

I’m no expert, former player, or whatever. I know that he started getting hurt when he started throwing 100 consistently. He wasn’t throwing 100s when he won his two Cy Young’s before this.

Thor started getting hurt when he started his extra lifting and eating his bowsl of doom. But what do I know since I’m a fat 💩 who will never sniff a pro field.

Agreed. But the experts here have been telling me I’m FOS with the deGrom got hurt when he threw harder. Google DEGROM THROWING HARDER and look at all of those links to articles in 2021 before he started his one + year stay on the DL.

  • So it seems the Mets have improved their medical staff under Uncle Stevie as they made the right call on Chris Paddock and Kumar Rocker. In the past, the Mets would have been stuck with these damaged goods and rehabbed them for 18-24 months only to see them walk after a season or two. Mets plan on being aggressive at the trade deadline but without giving up their top prospects. Instead, they would prefer to make deals by taking on large contracts from other teams. This wouldn’t be the first time they considered this approach, as the Mets reportedly were in discussions with the Padres this offseason on a deal that would have sent Dominic Smith to San Diego in exchange for Chris Paddack, Emilio Pagan, Eric Hosmer and $30MM to help cover Hosmer’s salary. The deal ended up falling through due to the Mets’ medical staff growing concerned with the medical records of Paddack, who ended up requiring Tommy John surgery after being traded to the Twins instead. The new CBA added a fourth luxury tax line at the $290MM mark, which the Mets have pushed themselves right up against. Jason Martinez of Roster Resource estimates their current luxury tax number to be $289.4MM, but it seems the division-leading Mets are willing to push over the line in order to bolster the club for the final push. They apparently won’t be dipping deep into their farm system, which is ranked the 16th in the league by Baseball America, but should get a boost at the upcoming draft when they will make two out of the first 14 picks.
  • The reason the Mets have an extra first round draft pick is because of last year’s Kumar Rocker saga. The Mets selected him 10th overall and were apparently going to offer him a $6MM bonus, $1.26MM above slot value, until they grew concerned by something in his throwing elbow during a post-draft medical evaluation and withdrew their offer. Now a report from Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan of ESPN relays that Rocker underwent shoulder surgery in September. Rocker’s agent Scott Boras characterized the procedure as “a minor scope” in the piece. Rocker signed with the Tri-City ValleyCats of the independent Frontier League in preparation for re-entering the draft this year. Through five starts, he’s pitched 20 innings with a 1.35 ERA, 32 strikeouts and four walks. Despite the surgery, Jim Callis of MLB.com believes that Rocker has shown himself healthy enough to be selected at some point in the first round of the draft, which begins on July 17.

In the meantime, he should team up with John Rocker to make the remake: John and Kumar Go to White Castle. Don't even try to tell me you're not watching that.

NEVER give crap pitchers free outs

Don’t get caught stealing against a guy giving up bombs all year

Maybe we can get Brandon Drury back to be our DH. Would come cheaper than some of the other guys we've been linked to. My concern would be could he produce the same in meaningful games with pennant race pressure as opposed to on a team where you're just playing out the string.

Another W.

We know we need bullpen help the most so hopefully they're looking around.

Francisco Alvarez will be behind the dish for the stretch run in September if not sooner in mid August. To quote a famous poster that used to post here, "You can take it to the Bank".
