I was glad to see the pitching show up last night, especially Cole. It's only been 3 games, but Cleveland hasn't scored much since the playoffs started; hopefully that continues with Nestor and Sevvy looking good.

Cole delivers.
Next up...Nestor on Friday.
BTW, Donaldson must have taken base-running lessons from Gary Sanchez.
Donaldson has done the home run trot without the ball going over the fence before. In fact, a couple of times this year. Let's hope he's been "incentivized" by last night's miscue to run hard every at bat -- at least for the duration of the playoffs. Good call about Sanchez.

So today's Philly/Atlanta game looks like a rain out. Tomorrow Yankees possible too. They should have switched days lol

Great role model for the younger players.

As stated earlier...would love Gio back and never had made that trade.

Yesterday it happened like 2 minutes after Bob Costas used an example about getting a single after the ball bounces off the top of the wall. Think he was talking about Guardians running hard every time in contrast to that example (which sounded like a swipe at NY by way of Donaldson's last fake HR gaffe).

Was a little eerie.

Donaldson will be in a different uniform come spring. So will Hicks. If all goes well, the left side of the infield will be manned by Peraza and Volpe by August.

The 2022 New York Yankees are a transition team. The trades and signings made in the off season essentially said goodbye to the "Baby Bombers I Era" and is bridging to "Baby Bombers II." So they acquire a new 3rd and 1st basemen and shortstop. But only for this and next season They'll probably try to trade Hicks and possibly Torres before next season if Torres doesn't pan out further.

The current team will not be around for very long but you can see the new pieces emerging. A redesign of the bullpen was going well until injuries hit newbies Scott Effross, Michael King, Rob Marinaccio, etc.

Starters Cole (thru 2028), Cortes (arbitration thru 2025), German (arb thru 2024), Severino (arb thru 2023) and Montas (arb thru 2023) will be back. Taillon's contract ends after this season. So there's room to re-sign him or sign others.

Fans don't seem to see beyond the immediate season but that seems to be the larger picture as to why some of these guys are here..

Nah....Philly was able to give the game away tonight.
And there might be a chance to get the Yankees game in. Great pitching match-up...Cortez vs. Bieber.

Hope they get it in. Cortez talked about going his pregame workout yesterday and pitchers seem to be creatures of routine.
BTW. I think we broke 2008. He went mental. Posting some jiberish about his "likes" hurting our feelings. I gave him just 1 star for his post 🤣🤣🤣

I give Cashman credit for finally focuing on starting pitching. Still don't like the Montgomery trade but that trade makes it easier to get rid of Hicks.
Judge would be a big domino if he stays or leaves. If he goes do they go hard to get Ohtani?? One thing Yankees do consistently is having big star to sell tickets and more importantly get viewers to watch YES

I must have missed it, but why was game 2 of this series not scheduled for Wednesday ?
Travel day ?

I think it was a TV thing to maximize prime time slots.

They should have started this in the WCS

And now we get a 1:00 game that nobody can watch if they're working. Awesome.

Well maybe I can have a split screen on my laptop during my Zoom parent/teacher conferences.

Pretty crappy situation for sure

In 442B….PERFECT DAY!! That being said if Aaron Judge looks at another first strike again I’m gonna lose my mind!

Too many walks allowed to the bottom of that lineup.

And Donaldson still is a piss poor baserunner. There's two fvcking outs and he's jogging into second base.

I am so sick of these fundamental mistakes.

Can't even put the ball in play. Judge with the golden sombrero.

Gonna come down to the bullpen, which is worrisome.

Regardless who wins today, this game just illustrates the bigger issues with this team...too many KOs that are unproductive outs and can't get a runner in from 3rd base with less than two outs.

It's why the Astros might very well sweep the NYY if it gets to that point.

It's the perfect example of Cashman's analytics. Strike outs have the same value as any out. Putting a ball in play has value.

Only need to go back to the Stanton KO with one out and runners at 2nd and 3rd.

Typical Yankee incompetence.

6 hits, 15 strikeouts. Cashman's playoff offense. I've seen this movie to many times to know the ending.
