How far away are we from Houston, can we catch them?
Starting today, Houston's magic number for the 1 seed was 1. Yankees won; as I write this, Houston is 2-2 at home against Arizona in the bottom 8th. One win by them (including tonight) or a Yankees loss, they've locked in the one seed.

It's funny, I had a lot of $hit talking friends that were Mets fans talking about how the Mets were the new kings of NY and yadda yadda when they went past the Yankees in the standings during the Yanks swoon. Now the Yanks are only 1 game back. Just shows you that all that talk means nothing until the playoffs. it still think the Mets have an easier road in the playoffs but I think in my heart neither NY team makes the World Series.

So Judge didn't have the best weekend. He didn't get #62, which I could care less about, he also lost his batting average lead for the Triple Crown which is much more exciting to me. .311 vs .315 now.

You know who had a worse weekend. Take a look at the Mets thread! They been killing this thread all year long. And Shift is even hated over there by telling everyone not to complain after the 3 game sweep. Normally that thread if full of stupid complaints but if there was ever a time that it was ok to complain it was this past weekend. Pure gold.

Marinaccio hurt.
I can't help wondering what the Yankees bullpen would look like if Boone didn't have that "no three straight games rule" for his relievers. They'd probaby all be injured.....oh....wait.

You believe going through the Padres, Dodgers and Braves is an easier path than the Yankees have?

This can't be a coincidence with this revolving door of bullpen injuries.

This is such a flawed team.

It's only flawed because of the injuries. When they were kicking everyone's asses, there were no flaws. Our only real flaw is a lack of depth in the higher levels of the minors, mostly because of the trades we made at the deadline. Somehow they all blew up in Cashman's face so that would be on him. I thought every move they made except the Monty deal was a good one. Shows what I know....

What I also wanted to add is this is such a flawed team for post season baseball.

Tonite is another example. Runner on third and less than two outs.

Six fvcking double plays in seven innings. Be nice to have a hitting coach that could teach the art of "elevating a baseball into the outfield" at certain times.

Holmes also came back to Earth before his latest injury so that least his numbers now match back of his baseball card. There hasn't been a bona-fide closer since the All Star break.

I agree with you.

Take one look at today's Yankees lineup and you'll see what Judge is up against.
Why would anyone pitch to him ?
Just when you thought Boone couldn't trot out a weaker lineup. Take a look at today's first game starters.

That guy that fell over the wall cracked me up. I guess he landed in the bullpen?

I hope Judge and all the Yankees starters sit out today's game. He has nothing to play for. Has the home run record and no chance at the Triple Crown. Every game today is meaningless except for the $

They get five days of rest after today before they have to play again. Let them play to limit the rust.

BTW did you see 2008 go on a rant to some poster telling him to go back to the Dead Zone and the guy was a Mets Fan??? 🤣🤣🤣
He takes such pride in how many posts the Mets thread gets when in reality it's 270 pages of throw-up. They just cry about everything and with limited baseball knowledge. He doesn't understand quality is greater the quantity.

So true.
2008 is what you call a "knucklehead".

BTW- my take on Judge and #62...
Congrats! Besides the actual number 62- Judge led the league by 23 HR and MLB by 16 Last guys to have that big of a spread were Ruth and Fox.

And Judge does get to say he has the record for the AL. When you look at the list- that is impressive as hell.

And if you are ok with the Bonds/Sosa/McGwire crap- all good, but we know those would not have happened unaided.

But one of the great years we have seen in our lifetimes.

On top of it- the man had no one in the lineup to protect him.

Hard to figure who starts game #1 for the Yankees......Cortes, Cole, or Severino.

Posted this in the Phillies discussion, but think some of you guys might like it and not sure if you look at that thread. It includes some Steinbrenner quotes and why Rob Thomson left the Yankees when they chose Aaron Boone over him.
