Looked like it was going to be a blowout early this one’s on pitching.
Anyone know who was announcing with Kay sounded like don lagreco

Yep- MR was so overrated- didn’t need him at all for all those championships. 😳Holmes is toast. The job of a closer has always seemed like a joke to me. Closers Rest all game and watch everything that’s transpired. Are usually provided ample time to warm up and get their heads on straight. Get called in to get a few outs typically against tired players that have just played for 3 hours. How do these closers ever blow a save! It’s not like a pinch-hitter that all of a sudden gets thrown into a game and is expected to hit - so it never surprises me when a PH strikes out. But blown saves should almost never happen.
Listen, I love Mo as much as the next guy and is the only autographed jersey I own, but there are plenty of guys that logged way more innings to put the Yanks in a position to make sure Mo even had a job during those championships. Saves don’t exist unless the starters and middle relievers take care of business. On a separate but related note, I always found it interesting that pitchers have a bullpen to warm-up and strategize = why isn’t there a batting cage for guys to prepare for at-bats or pinch hitting?Yep- MR was so overrated- didn’t need him at all for all those championships. 😳
Pretty sure most stadiums do have batting cages inside somewhere.Listen, I love Mo as much as the next guy and is the only autographed jersey I own, but there are plenty of guys that logged way more innings to put the Yanks in a position to make sure Mo even had a job during those championships. Probably right but I’ve never seen a hitter (starter or pinch) head to the batting cages for a few minutes during a game. At least, you’d think the networks would show coverage like the do the bullpens if that was the case. IMO pinch-hitting is one of the most difficult roles on a team.Pretty sure most stadiums do have batting cages inside somewhere.

To be honest it doesn't excite me if Judge does or doesn't hit 61 or 62. This is purely a sports media thing. 61 homers has been passed already 6 times. Yes I know the Yankees connections thing. I'm more concerned about the Yankees getting on a roll like the first few months.

Mariano RiveraAnyone...a hypothetical, NYY has a one run lead heading to the bottom of the 9th.
Who would you trust to close out the game?
Personally, I don't think I would trust anyone to hold a one run lead.
I haven't seen a reliever that's been able to have two good outings in a row since the ASG.Mariano Rivera
According to one of your posters- just use anyone, it isn't that importantI haven't seen a reliever that's been able to have two good outings in a row since the ASG.
Maybe Loaisiga?
Not to mention potentially surpassing a fellow by the name of Ruth in the record books is rare company. It is also the chase for the American League record…
Yankees still need to find a way to a WS win but to hold both the Yankee and AL record is pretty significant.
OK, scratch my pick of Loiasiga, he can't have two good outings in a row either.According to one of your posters- just use anyone, it isn't that important
Wouldn't surprise me if Chapman closes come post-season. Holmes hasn't exactly seized the job this season.Holmes is done, but hell of a 9th for the Yanks. Judge hits 60, Stanton with the walk off grand slam. In the 9th, 5 batters, 5 runs.
What a ninth inning. Great motivation!Yet another monumental collapse Tuesday night.
I agree his absence has really hurt us. WhenOK, scratch my pick of Loiasiga, he can't have two good outings in a row either.
The bullpen really went to shit when King was lost.
Yet another monumental collapse Tuesday night.
Ha Ha. I was talking how the 5 guys brought in before Chapman were able to give up 7 runs in a little over 2 innings after Nestor left. What a ninth inning. Great motivation!

Total garbage and a ominous sign ahead of the playoffs.
Boone has to be looking at his pitching coach with a WTF expression.
I agree his absence has really hurt us. When
is he expected back, or is it for the year.
Sevy started tonight and looked great.Right elbow fracture - but latest report (from July) was no ligament damage so no Tommy John surgery. Will be out for the season. Severino and Britton coming back soon so that helps the overall staff.
How can he break the Babe's record5th inning Judge with 2 walks. Bosox pitcher hasn't walked anyone else.
not watching but is the one time he pitched to him, leading off the game?5th inning Judge with 2 walks. Bosox pitcher hasn't walked anyone else.
Better find someone other than Rizzo to bat second.Would have to think if Higs makes an out- they walk judge again
This aged well.Wouldn't surprise me if Chapman closes come post-season. Holmes hasn't exactly seized the job this season.
Yep, really no options for Boone since the entire bullpen is a heaping pile of steaming shit. This aged well.
In your defense, LOL, tonight Holmes turned around and pitched two really sharp innings. Hopefully the relievers take these last 2 weeks and try to find some consistency. This whole one night this guy has it, two others don't rotation is enough to drive anyone crazy. This aged well.
Have to include Taillon in the mix especially since Cortes is on an innings count. German will probably be used as a long reliever.Cole, Cortes and Sevy as your 3 playoff starters. Not that bad is everyone pitches up to their potential. Now it's the bullpen to figure out the last 2 weeks.
