Marcus Stroman in 2023:

9-4 record
14 Quality Starts
97.2 IP
2.28 ERA
1.03 WHIP

The same dude who I said the Mets should’ve kept him after being the only pitcher who pitched in NY with onions the year he was let go.

But… But… Carrasco and Quintana!!!!!!

Why do I even bother? 🤦🏻‍♂️
Stroman is a solid pitcher having a career season. Actually half-season. One that NOBODY predicted.

We all know the rumors as to why the Mets didn't try to pursue him. None of us know the truth.

Let it go man, let it go. As an old teacher of mine used to say, the Good Lord put our eyes in the front, and not in the back, for good reason.

My take is that the Mets should try to win with the team that they have and, if and when it becomes a lost cause, play all these AAA guys and see what they have. Maybe the vets will get their act together and make a run. Maybe they can't and, if that's true, the Mets make the shift and create a lengthier body of work to evaluate the prospects. I don't care to see the Mets making trades of any substance until they get their front office squared away.

Vientos went 2-4 with 2B last night in Syracuse. Technically not a prospect anymore based on rostered days in MLB but think he is still under the AB limit. Want me to include him in honorable mention?

Christian Scott had another nice start in AA. Clearly a top 5 SP prospect in system now. Getting good reviews from scouts and metrics look nice. Hitting up to 98.

Jett Williams might be too patient but still good to see he can get on base. Needs to get the average/slugging up a but still has over a .400 OBP. Reimer looks promising as well as power should come and still has a nice average and also a OBP over .400.

We have 2 Luis Rodriguez's on Rookie FCL Mets team but the more interesting one just came back from TJ surgery and threw for first time. He will probably move up after he gets some innings under his belt.

This Christian Scott he's not 24 years old or anything already is he? Might be one to keep an eye on.

You can say the same thing about most of the Mets last year. Guys put up great numbers, then this year looks a lot like the 2021 and 2020 seasons. We need to let go of last year's 101 wins. 🤣 😁

The same reason your eyes are in front is why bad things sneak up on you. You're blind to what's around you.😉

Agree. Eppler just makes the team worse. Probably best sitting tight until he is canned.

He was drafted out of college in 2021, fifth round. To make AA in less than two years is not bad.
Yeah. It's just frustrating to see the way that other teams are able to do it. That kid Abbott in Cinncy who is the same age looks like he might have the makings of an ace. And our chief division rivals who were hit with injuries to their rotation called up a 20 year old who went in the 7th round in that same draft and has already had 3 effective starts in a row. I guess that's part of the reason why they're 21 games over .500 while we're a sinking ship. Guys like Megill who I'm sure was counted on a quality young starter by our standards, is actually turning 28 next month and yet still is nothing but a big question mark. I can't remember the last time we unleashed a stud, YOUNG starter who hit the ground running and became a staff centerpiece quickly.

If Cohen didn't have such a horrific reputation as a businessman (insider trading scandals for 30years) and as a person (see all his martial complaints) do you feel the Mets would not have had to settle for their 5th choice for GM and thereby not be in such a mess this year.

Maybe highly skilled people not wanting to work for cohen is the real reason the Mets are in this mess despite 400mm payroll.

Just a thought.

Would probably do it if Ohtani signed an extension. Not doing it if we only get him for 2 months and then he walks. I think they added Rendon and Marte for money purposes but would remove those 2. However I think the Angels would think they could do better.

Interesting take. I know two people that work in the Cohen organization. One direct for Cohen, my neighbor, and another gentleman high in the org. Both love Cohen so I don’t know about horrific reputation. But he’s a corporate raider and those guys generally don’t make friends
