OT: Reporter and camerman shot on live tv in Virginia

Death Penalty and Life is prison is way too easy my man. It's an easy way out. If psycho paths want to kill people, they will kill people. They will find guns, or have weapons made and kill people. It's not like this dude was sitting around and someone came at him and he shot them. He meticulously planned out that he wanted to kill people. He made a choice, now whether it was with a gun or machete, he was going to kill people.

Quick trial. Bullet to the head in back of the court house. Should be done in a day or two.

No words can express my horror and outrage with an incident like this. Its a sick world out there. I hope the families and friends of the victims can find some peace some day.

Guy wears a GoPro to film the murder of 2 people, uses his Smart Phone to Tweet the video WHILE BEING PURSUED by police and then waxes himself.

And Der wants to ban guns...yeah, that'll do something.

Agreed, I'm not on the "no guns" or "all guns" side. My personal opinion is you should only be allowed to have weapons for hunting purposes and personal protection (for example, you can personally protect yourself with a handgun you don't need an automatic weapon to do so).

Good thing automatic weapons are illegal...phew.

Here's a start. People shouldn't comment about public policy if they don't know how things actually work.

You go first...

Is this a racially-motivated hate crime?

This clown's story sounds a little too contrived. While it sounds like there was a definite issue with his employer, it seems like he's more interested in creating a political sh*tstorm. Racism in the workplace, violence in the workplace, violence against women, gun control, mental health, morality in media, in social media, etc. Hell, if he had been able to work abortion and immigration into the equation, he would've covered all of the issues.

Most likely, the guy's pissed at his employer and takes it out on the co-workers he didn't like. Similar to other acts of workplace violence. Just wait for the media and/or social media to start demonizing the victims as racists.

Here's an out of the box suggestion...

Ban social medial, smart phones and cable news. THese acts are about the publicity and making a statement. No statement to be made, no murders.

Who's with me?

Makes about as much sense as banning guns does.

In NJ. They're fine in free states (as you know)

I've thought that if the media stopped broadcasting the "famous three names" of killers, their video, and any details except the facts. "Man shoots reporter and camera man." we'd get a long way towards discouraging the crazies.

But we have to sell ads...

Buddy, some of these "semi-automatic weapons" fire at a rate and hold enough bullets where to the average observer one would think they're automatic.

They do?

Show your work.

And if that is the case, "Average observers" should shut the f@ck up about things they know nothing about.

News station where he worked at said he was a person hard to work with. Always fueled the fire in trying to get people to say things that he could take offense to. He was let go and didnt take that well. Police had to escort him from the building. Filed a discrimination lawsuit. Alison was named. It was racially motivated.

I'm not about banning guns, never said I was. I just personally think you really don't need to have anything more than a hand gun or hunting rifle. Why do you need anything else? I am a registered Republican by the way but I use 100% common sense.

read that he sued another station in Tallahassee over termination and blamed it on racism

The shooter had a "hand gun."

If you want to stop these incidents there's a simple solution. Just publicly torture these lunatics when their caught. Stone them, castrate them, cut their limbs off, throw them in a small tank of hungry sharks or a cage of hungry animals. We'll see how long these horrific acts continue.

You trying to start an ISIS chapter in this area ?

How about this as a solution...If it was more difficult to receive a permit but easier to obtain a concealed carry license we'd see a lot less shooter IMO. 1. the crazies would have a much harder time obtaining guns legally, but there are more sane, protective people legally carrying guns in public. Self governance.

I know. As I stated previously, if you would've read my post. I am not for banning guns, this guy was going to kill people regardless of whether guns were legal or not. I don't understand what point you're trying to get at. Please help me out and explain your point.

shooter is dead!

wait a minute, not dead. totally kidding about that.

yeah instant news, immediate gratification!

I think another cruel form of punishment that these guys should get is to be put in a rubber room in solitary confinement for life with a clock. It would drive them absolutely insane. And, the government should broadcast videos of them going crazy in solitary to let people know just how bad solitary is.

My point is to take umbrage with the notion that YOU can decide for ME what hobbies MAKE SENSE, when they are protected by the constitution.

Statistically, you are more likely to die from being struck by a falling coconut world wide, than killed by a semi-automatic rifle (Assuming you are a non-combatant.)

Yet, these bodies aren't even at the morgue yet and people on this thread are solving the world's problems by restricting rights (you) and banning guns (der).

It's tiresome...

Okay so I'll pose this question. For what reason do you have to have anything more than a hunting rifle and handgun? Again, I am a registered republican and lean pretty far right.

Self defense. A hand gun is scary to go against when you break into my house my assault rifle is scarier and more accurate.

The shooter shot himself. First report was he was dead, second report is that he was still alive and they were working on him.

The reason is irrelevant. The is the whole point of the 2nd Amendment. If I am a law-abiding U.S. citizen who has been found to be perfectly sane and passes a background check, I have the right to own any non- fully automatic guns (those have been banned for a long time) for sh*ts and giggles if I'd like to.

Common sense comes into play when you consider the facts that criminals do not obey laws restricting/banning guns in the first place, and police can't be everywhere to prevent violent crime before it already happens and is too late.

While this may be true (although I wouldn't be surprised if nobody actually collects data on the number of people killed by falling coconuts), I'm not sure of its relevance to the general question of whether gun control is a good idea or not.

I absolutely agree arm the law abiding citizens as the criminals already have them.

Because this is the way rights work.

NONE OF YOUR F@CKING BUSINESS WHY...

Hey, Mr. Black Man, why do you WANT TO VOTE? Politicians do nothing anyway.

Are you being serious now?

I don't need to justify why I want to do anything that is Constitutionally protected to you, Mr. Magoo or the man on the moon. That's why...

I have a huge Dick and like my toys to match...

I have a small dick and my ego feels better staring at my scary gun collection...

Jesus told me too

Allah said screw Jesus and join the Jihad...

NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS....THAT'S WHY

Are we clear where I stand yet?

NONE

Oh who gives a sh*t about gun laws and politics at this point. The anti-gun people will use this as example as to why we need more gun laws and the pro-gun people will use this as example as to why it wouldn't had made a difference since this guy was a psychopath. But, this is not important. What is important is that two innocent people are dead for no f'ing reason. Families are destroyed and now they will have to put up with trolls posting videos of their love ones being murdered for the rest of their lives. The whole thing is tragic beyond words,

Public torture doesn't deter crimes like this. In fact, the theatrical, public nature of such a punishment would probably be appealing to someone looking for maximum drama.

Foucault discusses this in Discipline and Punish, beginning with the example of the torture of Damiens the Regicide in 17th century France. Extreme forms of public punishment can be as effective in glamorizing the criminal and engendering sympathy for his cause as they are in demonstrating the power of the state.
