They both died during the same storyline in the comic, Abe died with the arrow through the eye, they gave that death to the nurse on the TV show. Glenn died the same way, they even re-created the panel, which was a nice touch.

The comic from this point on got crazier with more colorful characters. People were getting bored of the whole zombie survival thing after 99 issue. Issue 100 introduce Negan to spice things up.

There are up to issue 162 right now.

From I read he wants to end the comic book before the TV show ends.

AMC is rumored to be willing to do up to 10 seasons, so three more years.

Ratings for the season 7 premiere were right back up to the series high, season 5 premiere level (off like 2%). This is after significant drops in season 6 (live + same day at least). I guess the cliffhanger stunt worked, will be interesting to see how that maintains without any big reveal (or is Negan a cool enough villain to keep interest).
