Actually I do blame Brown and the big donors for not getting this done, letting Hobbs undermine them to the BOG.
Steve Politi maybe the winner of the day. He is no longer thought of as having the head of a male organ anymore.
It was a decent article but let's not go crazy...
I do my own thing, that's well known. My faculties are pretty deep and the very least, deep enough to see what was offered and realize that he was beyond singularly focused on the wrong thing which caused the Greg we're all worried about to surface at the wrong time. BOG made the right move and in years to come, people will be very happy. We've shown we'll commit resources to a coach and assistants and that has always been a major concern when hiring
No candidate ever mentioned knows the landscape of the B1G, NJ and Rutgers better than Schiano. all he wanted was to have a level playing field. I'm sure he had to deal with a sh!tload of negative recruiting in the Big East with our facilities at that time and now that he has a chance to coach in the B1G would like to have a chance to win without that BS.

Problem is that for all that hes right about in this article, he and nj.com would be the first to tear the program down once schiano was hired

As i said last week, if Hobbs f'd this up this would replace the Grunninger no to BE in Rutgers lore.
He proved to be in the deep end of the pool when he chose a corn farmer over Al Golden back in 2015. He was on the job for only six days so I am somewhat sympathetic. He can rectify that error by hiring Al this time. I sent him an email to that effect
when he attacked Brown who donated millions to RU and was the one guy on the BOG who REALLY supported RU sports and forever , he lost all credibility--trust me, if G Brown fades away from RU sports we are really screwed==politi is an self serving a$$ who wouldn't give spit to make RU a success in anything and some of you guys fall for it because you're pissed schiano wasn't hired , like I said cutting off your nose to spite that pretty face is dumb and your loyalties are misplaced

True, but in this case, he is 100% accurate, as per multiple sources (via premium and TOS).

Terrific, Hobbs managed to be so incompetent that he wound up more wrong about something than Politi. Politi is an a-hole who hates the school and the school can't even manage to pass his low bar.

I really do not understand Barchi and the BOG.
He allows one person to determine ignoring an executive search firm recommendations for candidates for the AD job and hires Julie Hermann. Then he replaces her with someone else with no football experience, Hobbs. Hobbs screws up his football hire.. costing Rutgers (Rutgers football season ticket holders and donors) MILLIONS and then MILLIONS AND MILLIONS More in revenues and donations evaporating.
And he allows Hobbs to screw this up with Schiano?
It is time for Rutgers to INVEST in Big Ten Athletics. The Big Ten is going to pay Rutgers $50M a year soon enough.. but the administration created this goal of Athletics paying for itself by date X. It was idiotic to make that promise when supporting athletics is 1% of the overall budget. Hell.. Rutgers and the State should commit to 2% of Rutgers overall budget going to athletics. Consider it a PR expense... a recruiting expense for students. Put a world class rec center as part of the practice complex... *something*.. get creative.. make it work.. a school of sports medicine.. a hotel complex with a school of hotel management.. Busch is home to comp sci.. put in a MIT Media Lab type complex.. combine academics and athletics.. make it work!

huh? That wasn't $25M a YEAR for Schiano.. more like $4M. The $7.7M was per year for his 10 assistants in TOTAL.. like $1.5M each for OC and DC and $4.7M for the other 8 paid assistants.. so over $500K each on average. And as Politi points out.. its more than fair when compared to our peers in this conference.

Hobbs is a fool. Sounds like the parties were negotiating, and then Hobbs backed out went he didn't like a counteroffer. Jesus, that's not how negotiations. What an amateur. Just costs the program another large swath of long term fans.
Now we have a lame duck AD quickly picking a plan B. Good God, the only blessing in this mess, even for an alum, is that being a fan is a voluntary thing.
