NoIf Hobbs killed this, then his fundraising success is not enough to keep him. This is Fred Gruninger level screw up !!!

Don't let facts get in your way--He was the full time dean of Seton Hall Law School.
Never suggested anything close.Move on, he’s not the only coach in America.
He's not an idiot and never has been. He is an attention whore, but that's kind of his job. More importantly, based on all the things I've heard, he's right. And are you telling me you don't blame Hobbs at least somewhat for this for not at least knowing what Greg wanted months ago and despite that, still pursuing Greg? Hobbs should've just said Greg wasn't a candidate if he knew he wouldn't agree with Greg's demands for facilities (which are NOT unreasonable compared to the rest of the B1G).
The article has good info in it, assuming it's accurate. He didn't turn it down over the salary, he turned it down due to the lack of commitment from the school to upgrade to still-below-average facilities. He wanted to make us reasonably competitive, not pad his salary. Imagine wanting a practice facility that doesn't have to be deflated (and therefore unusable) when we get a few inches of snow.I didn't read it because its NJ.om but Schiano turning down $32M over 8. That's not on the BOG.
The next offer at 18 over 5 will be the BOG's failure.
wut? Pat was Dean of Seton Hall Law School for quite a few years.Other sources confirming this , and you probably know that
Seeing the initial two media stories that seemed to be issued by each of the competing camps, I needed more information to see which end of the spectrum the actual truth occupied.
I must say that the anecdote about the recruit/transfers in the Politi article sure seems to expose the angle that “Schiano didn’t really want the job” as a complete lie.
Love this part. If true and have no reason for doubt it isn’t, this is why he should have been hired. He knew what needed to be done. Instead RU just wants a bunch of yes men.
Schiano, according to multiple sources familiar with the Nov. 5 meeting between the two sides, came armed with a scouting report of the current roster that stunned people in the room and a list of more than 100 potential targets in the transfer portal to jumpstart the rebuild. He had already started recruiting, behind the scenes, to salvage a 2020 class that looks like a hopeless cause now.
Totally agree with you.... if we were still in the AAC.Politi is wrong as usual. G.S. demands were outrageous and somebody needed to take a stance. Good for the BOG and Pat Hobbs!

Very lame. Hobbs was expected to be aware of Greg’s facilities demands before meeting with him with Greg Brown in early November?
Your man love for Greg is impressive.
No idea whose agenda to believe but that was a bit of a surprising revelation if true, and blows away the "does he have the same fire he did before?" that's been floating around. I wasn't ever really concerned about his energy level because he has an intensity level that few do.
That said both camps are likely trying to spin this against the other. To that end, I wouldn't put it past Politi to be petty and want to burn Hobbs for comments at his SL colleague over the softball program issue.
He was interim athletic director at seton hall, not interim law school dean.wut? Pat was Dean of Seton Hall Law School for quite a few years.
Yup. Thank you. And thank you for quoting me!!!:ThumbsUpHe was interim athletic director at seton hall, not interim law school dean.
You realize that’s still one of the 3 Lowest salaries in all of the Big 10.Yes but 32million guaranteed is insane!
Poor Politi. He is just pissed that he has to throw away his article about Rutgers wasting NJ Taxpayers money on football.

You still haven’t helped me find a new cone for my gramaphone!!! Just got the new Enrique Caruso album and I can’t wait to listen.Yup. Thank you. And thank you for quoting me!!!:ThumbsUp
Got 2 places. The Thomas Edison Museum in West Orange. You still haven’t helped me find a new cone for my gramaphone!!! Just got the new Enrique Caruso album and I can’t wait to listen.

this is true as well as targets for staff and program for jucos
rest is nonsense by his agent or one particular bog member, or both, who was behind the hire at all costs. terrible article but the face saving 'it's in the bank' crowd need to latch on to something
that would have been a reasonable Politi article but he is slamming RU for not spending money it still doesn’t have on facilities with no rational process.Hobbs should've just said Greg wasn't a candidate if he knew he wouldn't agree with Greg's demands for facilities (which are NOT unreasonable compared to the rest of the B1G).
No sir, only 2 Big Ten coaches guaranteed over 32 million. You realize that’s still one of the 3 Lowest salaries in all of the Big 10.

no Greg is at fault here. He became fixated on timing of facilities as they related to other commitments. He was never considered bright but it's on full display here as he literally couldn't see the trees in the forest. Also, his ask really was too much and didn't sit well with some on the BOG so the more the demands, the less his was heard so to speak. Not everyone wants to spend guaranteeing the guy the 3rd most guaranteed money in the b10 for an avg coach.Ok, that's upsetting. He obviously was all in, and had a plan. Surprised that interview didn't blow people away then.
When I first heard the news I didn't blame RU, but now I'm not so sure.
Holy ****. If true Greg was ready to take the job, overhaul the program, and win. What a joke Rutgers is.
He was never considered bright but it's on full display here as he literally couldn't see the trees in the forest.
I just find it a TAD ironic that so many here are jumping on the Politi bandwagon here INCLUDING quite a few who have BASHED him in the past for “slanted” articles.
Lmfao..you know he is right but keep spinning away
How many times are you going to repeat the lie? I already corrected you that 25mill was guaranteed and you made a dumb remark. An hour later you are back repeating the same lie even after you learned that 25 mill was guaranteed. What does that say about you?No sir, only 2 Big Ten coaches guaranteed over 32 million.
