I am going to go with St Bonventure here. I had them not even in the last 4 so very surprised. Yes Monmouth was also snubbed but felt the Bonnies profile was a tad better.

A case can be made for So Carolina over Vandy

also San Diego State and St Marys have cases too

I think the committee is full of shit when it comes to their criteria as it changes every year...they totally disregarded Monmouths road wins and St Bonnies SOS

St Bonaventure had a rpi of 29...beat A10 tourney champ St Joes 2x, and won at A10 tourney regular season champ Dayton...big road wins

I think it's Monmouth although the Bonnies were close. What they are saying is that if you are a mid major you need to win your league or at least have a brand name.

Saw something interesting - By losing to Gonzaga in the WCC final, it moved GU into the top 50, giving SMC it's only top 50 win. Of course if they win, they get the autobid with 0 top 50 wins. This is why you can only put so much stock in the math.

The committee deserves some blame here, but so do the conferences themselves. They long ago decided to take the money of the conference tournaments. They could send their best teams, the regular season champ, to the NCAA if they wanted to.

as many of the talking heads said tonight, the committee has basically said we are going to reward the bloated power 5 schools every time and it does not matter if you schedule a tough OOC we will disregard the criteria you set before.

That's why one of these mid majors need to take a stand and send their regular season champ.

Wichita St almost didn't make the field and it won the MVC, traditionally one of the high mid majors, by 4 games. If all they are going to look at is top 50 wins, many of these teams will never have a chance to get in. Of course Syracuse and Michigan had more top 50 wins.

I can't stand Calipari, but he is correct, every year the committee seems to change its selection criteria. I realize the committee members change every couple of years, but c'mon already.

Maybe my CBS anger is bleeding into my bracket analysis, but I don't think this committee did a good job, even within the bracket itself.

I agree on St Bonnie with Monmouth 2nd-----Mich had 4 top 50 wins----lost 11 games by 10 or more points.

Cuse lost 5 of their last 6 and lost to St Johns who is a really poor team.

Tulsa getting in was a real shocker to me----got best twice by a .500 Memphis team by 20.

Vandy a complete joke IMO-----19-13----2-7 vs Top 50----lost to Tenn in conference tourney in Nashville with Tenn's best player out.

Must have been that Top 15 coach they have.

I thought St Marys did themselves in by not playing any non conference road games out of California. I thought San Diego State had a better case given they had a nonconference SOS of like 3 and beat Cal..their numbers very good compared to Wichita State

Michigan State

haha yes I know what you mean..total disrespect...I think the committee was too into MSU's overall rpi which was dragged down by a weaker SOS than the other schools. Instead they should stop looking at numbers and go with an eye test

I didn't realize SMC couldn't play in an exempt tournament this year due to some type of violation. That certainly didn't help. Like I said in the other thread, losing to Gonzaga gave them their only top 50 win, which appears to have been the #1 criteria this year.

I think what did them in too was losing 2x to Pepperdine, perhaps once you can slide by but two..not good.

I think that killed South Carolina as well....3 losses to Georgia

also just heard them talking about the Big 10 and how the bottom feeders like Minnesota and Rutgers really bring the entire Big 10 rpi down
