Our best 3 point defense has always been Cliff hedging in the 2nd half of games.

This is stupid. He is the last player to blame in this game for St. Peters being up 5. It's mainly perimeter defense.
Mildone, no they're not a bad team. But they came in 0-2, and we're supposed to be a top 25 team favored by 16. Once again, a Pike-coached team comes out slowly with no intensity and gets punked. We should win this game easily without Ace playing. The kids need to D up, especially behind the 3-point line, and start penetrating on offense, drawing fouls, making our FT's, and kicking it back out to Hayes and Marini when appropriate to hit threes.
He is forcing it tonight. His role on this team is uncertain
Dylan looks out of shape gassed early and he just seems disinterested maybe under the weather. We sure need Ace badly that’s for sure.
This is a good learning experience for the younger players. SPs is playing a very physical game and that’s taken our players out of their comfort zone. There have been few if any uncontested shots for RU vs many uncontested shots for them. Tons of film to grow from.
SP came in with a giant chip on their shoulder and clearly think they can win this. Pike needs to light a fire at half and wake them up on D. Getting torched off the high screen.
Hayes Martini and Sommerville can’t all play at the same time vs a team like this. One of them is on a quick guard and are getting eaten alive. SP has been hacking like crazy. They should’ve gotten called for 20+ fouls. That’s their strategy though, muck it up and frustrate you. Need to run an offense way to much iso.
It's a problem because he was expected to give something and is giving nothing.

You're right. It is a good learning experience, but it won't help if we lose. We need these games to solidify the team chemistry, offensive play, and defensive play and learn from winning even if it's close.
Defense sucks. St Peters looks tougher. Think I’ll be saying that a lot this year.

Ogbole won the summer workouts belt right when they started practicing. He was very amped up and yelling "Who is gonna take this from me?" Apparently everyone.
Pike has to do some coaching. Guys are shooting shots they shouldn't be taking and the shot selection isn't that great. I have seen better coached high school teams.
This team has players that can score. Pike isn't used to that. He finally has to care this year about the types of shots and who's shooting them. There are no excuses for this team to be inefficient on offense this year. None that are acceptable.

Acutally Mike, 15-30 is pretty good. What's not good is allowing SP to shoot 46% from 3-point line while we shoot 1 for 6.

With only 1 regular season win, against a relatively weak team, I don’t see why we should win this game easily. I’d like to win easily. But I have no idea how good our team is yet. None.
Preseason rankings and recruiting rankings are, to me, total BS. You only know what you have when you see it in action against real competition.
Having said that, the team should be working harder and faster on D and fighting harder for rebounds. The effort level isn’t where it needs to be.
Davis took one wide open mid range shots and made it. Weird to keep bringing it up as if that has anything to do with why we are losing
We could have defended the ball-handler more aggressively as they tried to dribble through the lane. Even if we picked up a couple more non-shooting fouls. Force them to restart their offense and take it in from out of bounds. Instead we’re letting them dribble/drive into key strategic lanes leading to easy scores.
Don't disagree with anything you're saying. But we're now no longer in preseason, and we're ranked 24. Even if we weren't ranked, St. Peters is a low mid-major team and should not be bullying us on our own court.
Who exactly do we expect to play defense? No McConnell , mag, Cliff type players on the team....it's going to be a long year....It was obvious during the St John's game....Team was on fire and we still lost..
