Basketball Rutgers falls to No. 20 Purdue with porous defensive performance

The lack of energy/intensity/effort is startling
It picked up as the half went on starting from when Grant entered the game first time

JWill has been benched and hasn't returned is interesting after a rough start

Davis not having a good game

6" Smith plays under control and so much bigger plus a good shooter and passer.
RU 11 turnovers and Smith 10 assists.
Seems like on every possession by Purdue there is a wide open player and great cut to the basket.

Even with a loss there will still be some here clinging to a scant hope

Why not give Dortch some burn at this point? We see the energy / rebounding / rim protection boost we get from Grant. Throw some length on the court and TRY to get back to a vintage Pike team. I don’t see why not, this team is going nowhere fast as it stands

Derkacsc bully ball doesn’t work against real opponents

Ace is physically gifted, but he needs another year in college. He is so undeveloped and out of control that he could struggle in the league and that’s not a place where they really develop you. You don’t play a lot of minutes.

Dylan looks like he doesn’t have his legs under him and hopefully they start to come back in the second half

Grant has some physicality, but we need to remember as a freshman and shoots when he shouldn’t and gets lost on defense, but he can make up for it more than some others

I was still give Hayes a run to see if he could ever get hot, but we never seem to get any open shots. They’re always rushed threes.

Only the positive the screen and roll with Smith is now being defended by keeping the double it is working preventing the easy lay in but now it is leaving someone open to take a 3…my guess is Perdue will recognize this coming out of half.

Absolutely, he may not be here next year if Pike doesn't[/QUOTE]

I'm starting to really believe a lot of people on this board could coach our offense. Run three weaves at the top of the key, then everyone do whatever the hell you want and shoot from wherever the hell you want. How hard is that to coach?

Down 9 and Purdue shooting 15% from 3. 20 minutes left. I don't see how we can survive this loss.

How is it that our team always has the worst hands in the country?

This is stuff you learn before you even go through puberty, playing ball in the park. We fumble nearly every pass, not to mention slipping on banana peels on the court.

Offenses can pick and choose - how they want to execute against us. Pike hasn't even tried putting them in a 3-2. Live and die a slow death - unwilling to adjust to anything new. Shame

The amount of people here raving over our transfers this summer must feel embarrassed
they raved because the contributors on the website told us to rave about them

99% of people never saw ANY of the transfers play 1 minute of basketball before

Dang - Mick Cronin's evaluation of his own team (lost 3 of last 4) was brutal. Doesn't call anyone out but was clear that some on their team are not as good as they think they are individually. Probably applies to Rutgers too.
