Schiano Impressing Miami

Gregs agent is at it again. Miami can have him, I want Richt.

The day after it was widely acknowledged that GS was a finalist for the Southern Cal job for which even Chip Kelly was never considered, you write that his agent is just floating smokescreens in the hope that he lands a job? You must be very dense. A guy who turned down Michigan to stay at RU? Have we even had a coach of any sport who turned down more established programs to stay here until the NFL job arose?

My cousin's a small time donor at SC but has a lot of good connects - according to him, calls were made to gauge where things were with other candidates but most people were certain that Helton would be back if they beat UCLA - any serious searches would've begun after.

So this great agent has enough pull to get ESPN to put GS's name on the ticker as a finalist. I seriously doubt that. But your small time donor surely knows better. Give me a break.

Not coaching related but, for those of us who grew up in Jersey and spent most of our early years there, after living in the South for one year, you would not want to go back. I've been in south Georgia for two years now, and this is the first place out of my 5 assignments that makes me say I will never live back up north by choice. I'm just saying that because, I can see how GS could become accustomed to these beautiful winters and not want to move away.
I lived in Woodstock Georgia for one year and came right back.

Good. While I really wouldn't be upset if GS comes back, I don't think we should be letting him dictate the process alone.

On a side note, what in the hell is the allure of Miami these days? I get the history and I get the fertile recruiting area, but it's not what it used to be. Lack of fan support, 3/4 empty NFL stadiums, etc. I just don't get why that job is still as attractive as it is.
The allure is,if you want to get to the playoffs (and he is in a point in his career where the playoffs are the goal) than the clearest path is the ACC. He would not have to face this three headed monster in the BIG EAST Michigan ST.,Michigan, and O.S.U.
