Sources: Rutgers reached out to URI officials Saturday to speak with Danny Hurley. GW's Mike Lonergan also a top RU target.

These two would qualify as "would like to get it done this week" as both shouldn't make the NIT even

I'd think Lonergan is the front runner, his job if he wants it. Hurley is going to play hard ball and doesn't want to take on the rebuild

Masiello and Piekiell Stony Brook coach as back ups

FWIW, I think you need to consider, at least speak to Sendek and his people, just my opinion, still has the most wins and most tourney appearances of all available coaches

If Hurley wants the job, he better be ready for another rebuild. Biggest build in college basketball.

He issued the following statement when he turned down the job last time in 2013. The same article actually stated he wanted an 8 year deal.

"For me, my family loves Rhode Island, loves the people there. We've adjusted really, really well to living outside of New Jersey for the first time in our lives," Hurley said Sunday on ESPN Radio's "The Ian O'Connor Show." "Two of my three years as a college coach have been in rebuilding situations, and that's a tough thing to go through. It takes a lot of energy and a lot of wear and tear on you."

Just because RU reached out to URI doesn't necessarily mean Hurley is top target. I'm sure RU haa reached out to a number of schools for permission to speak with a coach.

PLEASE NOTE:

the tweet says "A TOP" RU target...not THE top or ONE OF THE TOP 2 "RU targets."

Yes Sendek, never mind his age, he has coached and won in ACC and PAC 12, power conferences with multiple tourney appearances, Lonergan and Hurley have been at low majors and A10 and have two tourney appearances combined

Combined? That's like saying the net worth between me and Warren Buffet makes us billionaires.

Sendek has 22 years as a head coach in a power 5 and he is only 53!!!!

You never know where stuff is in the process. We may have already spoken with Lonergan and it didn't work out. We may be speaking to Sendek and his agent isn't saying anything.

If I had to guess, I'd guess that Hurley's agent has been the "source" for all the info we've heard so far, especially from the bloggers. Sounds like he's been orchestrating a campaign. We haven't heard nearly as much about any other candidate. Why would the insiders be leaking primarily about one guy?

I am huge Lonergan fan. Did a great job at Catholic. Left his HC job to sit and learn from the best X's and O's HC I have seen in Gary Williams (apologies Coach Izzo), then killed it at Vermont and doing well at GW. Gary Williams coaching tree is superb: Rick Barnes, Fran Dunphy, Lonergan, Billy Hahn, Jimmy Patsos, Dave Dickerson.

I had an "Urban's tree" attraction to Ash. There is something to learning from the best. I also like Hurley a bunch. Very, very happy with Hobbs if this rumor is correct.

One question on Lonergan, he has recruited foreign students very well to a school with high academic standards. Students are drawn there, by the unique nature of GW as an "international School" in DC. Also the team has underperformed expectations the las two years given the talent laden roster.

Just curious to hear the supporting side. I have followed GW quite closely, one of my kids graduated from there.
