What is Greg Schiano Worth to Rutgers??

This is a legitimate topic of discussion. I feel his salary should be doubled and was wondering what other’s thought.
Al I believe it's best to wait till year 5 of his contract is over to renegotiate a raise in salary , but could add higher bonuses based on wins and bowl games for year 5 play

In year 4 of this rebuild Greg Schiano has not beaten one, yes, not even one team with a winning record. Think about that fact before you are so quick to agree with the delusions of the OP. There is no doubt that he is a master marketer of himself, and that over the years he has cultivated a loyal and passionate following, but as for real results on the football field, well, they leave a lot to desire. By the way, how has he done developing QB talent over that span?
This does speak volumes.
Better than where we were …..Absolutely.
In the upper half of the B1G ….TBD ?
Let’s beat a couple of winning teams or perhaps one in the final 3 games then we can talk about a raise,

There were a couple that had we not beaten them, would have been 500.. we don't give GS credit for losing to teams better than us.. we don't reduce how many wins OSU or Michigan get when they beat teams with losing records.

BEFORE GS.. we'd lose to teams with losing records.. we'd lose to everyone.

That said.. OP is stupid for bringing this up and I am stupid for entertaining this thread. If anything.. crap like this thread wants to make me argue against GS.

It is crazy when fans say GS should be fired.. and its just as crazy when someone wants to gather a torch wielding mob to force Rutgers to double his salary.

It is almost as insane as drunkenly singing a HS recruit Savon Higgins lullaby. and posting it to this board.

...almost

Hobbs put out a trial balloon last year to the effect that as long as the threshold was reached, he would get an extension. Now that the threshold has been reached, I believe an extension and raise will be granted.

Pay him whatever you have to. Flaherty, too. Feel like we can win any game we show up for which is nuts.

How about the Michigan player was saying how Rutgers was trying to be the bullies out there. How far is that from 77-0 or whatever that dreadful night ended at?

He builds in a tenacious appetite for life, for preparation, training and playing tackle football. That is the reason to come to Rutgers. Lose it and what's the reason to come to Rutgers? Oh yeah, as the other five coaches proved, there is none.

Though, if VaTech and NW had beaten us- both would have winning records.

Hopefully, we get to end the beating a winning team talk this Saturday. And this is also the other thing- the "winning" teams we had to face- two of them were ither 1 or 2 in the rankings and the other one is pretty damn goon. It isn't like we were playing middle of the road type winning teams.

Based upon what has been accomplished throughout the program and where many now feel we can still achieve more , Schiano deserves to be in the salary range of Bilema and Fickell. There really aren’t many HC’s who other than the Saban type could turn this moribund , left for dead football program completely around in under 5 years. Especially having been impacted by a lack of funding, a 9 year streak of apathy and a pandemic . So around let’s say 7.5 million.
Schiano on the same sentence as Saban ? Lol hahahaha hahahahaha hahahaha hahahahaha hahahaha hahahahaha hahahaha hahahahahaha. Worst offense in CFB last 2 years trending worse this year then last and has never ever ever win a division or conference in his life. Utter failure outside of 2 years in 1.0 and still couldn’t win a bad conference. Lol hahahaha. Mrs Schiano respectfully we have take your beach house back. Pack up your heading to NewEngland

Well your entitled to your opinion, but I think you’re wrong.

Look at where JF started and look where GS started. JF inherited a 100K+ game attending fanbase, with class leading facilities , and a full roster. GS inherited an empty roster, an empty stadium, and facilities which have to be significantly augmented to be able to recruit the best players.

Now we have a full roster and full stadium, despite our constraints. This is why GS deserves to be rewarded.

Even with all JF’s advantages, he rarely beats OSU and Michigan. So how can you expect GS to do the same, in order to get an increase ?

Just the fact that we will be able to go to Happy Valley and play competitively is a minor miracle in of itself, because we’re doing it with a fraction of the resources they have.

GS deserves to be paid significantly more because he’s built Rutgers into a competitive program, with a mostly full stadium, That can reasonably compete with most Big Ten programs, especially PSU.

Some don’t understand what’s been accomplished here. Kids didn’t just roll out of bed and become Big Ten Competitive overnight.

Someone kicked them in the ass to drive them to be the best players they could be. Kids woke up early morning and did the work. Kids did the work in the film room. Lots of sweat equity has been expended to get to where we are today. This team is a self motivated team which can reasonably compete with anyone on any given day.

We now have a National Championship Caliber Culture. You can tell by the significant improvement from last year to this year. Zilinskas is probably the most improved lineman and a key reason why the running game has improved. Kids like Kyle Monangai regularly drill blitzing linebackers into the ground. Tyreem Powell is an NFL caliber linebacker, who unfortunately got injured. Longerbeam is an NFL caliber corner, who held his own against Marvin Harrison.

Someone built this for us. That someone was GS, who did so over four years.

pay the Man! 💰 💰
Your embarrassing yourself ! National Championship caliber lol
Worst offense in CFP and just got rolled by the third worse offense in CFP
Stop

The defense has been built. We are still building the offense. Our best WRs are still in high school.

The defense that gave up over 400 yards to the second worst offense in CFB? Us being the worst. Lol yup definitely built
Only because the offense hung them out to dry. Any defense is going to break if it’s out on the field too long. It’s called fatigue.

Umm none of Iowas other opponents quote on quote broke. None of them made a QB look like a heisman candidate. HC and staff completely undressed and embarrassed

About the only good thing about losing yesterday is reading all the delusional, anti-Schiano fans think its breathed life into their narrative.

Earth to jokers: the mere fact there is disappointment we didn't beat ranked Iowa on the road is all you need to know about the progress here and the hold Schiano has on the job for years to come.

But keep crying. Its so helpful to the kids and the program.

Yes, Schiano is here for years and with no new contract until after next year. I think Schiano is still the best coach for Rutgers but doesn’t mean we give him the moon.

Iowa was playing their backup QB, he was a transfer from Wisconsin. They’re main QB Cade McNamara, transfer from Michigan out six games ago playing Mich State. See two transfers QB to Iowa, smart coach, that why he paid the big bucks. The transfer portal is the new game that Schiano needs to master.

Do you think McNamara would transfer to RU over Iowa?

The disappointment isn’t that we lost to a bad Iowa team with a historically bad offense. It’s that the “ elite greg defense” lol got shredded and embarrassed and the offense somehow is getting worse then last year when it finished dead last. Oh that’s right we’re done playing teams with losing records. Check the resurgent schiano numbers at years end. Lol

No because GS is a joke! No avg QB would
Well twice he took a joke of a program and made into one that was respected.
Great HC, No
Very good HC, Questionable
Good HC, Maybe
Pretty good HC, Definitely
Joke, is what some want, but his college coaching record proves otherwise

As for Rutgers QBs, seems the ones considered to be good when arriving, have triuble proving it.
Artur Sitkowski was touted to be a good one coming in, but proved to be the back-up type that he was in his last year in HS.
Wimsatt was considered a top talent, but hasn't shown that except on rare occasions.

All through the years good HS QB talent failed to show they were talented college players on a constant bases after becoming Scarlet Knights.
I finally realized why and it's not the way the coaching staff ( any over the years from Dr.John to G2, it's the state Rutgers is in.
New Jersey has the best pizza and its bagels can't be beat. ( because of Jersey air being an ingredient when they are being made)
So it stands to reason something will suffer to even out those good things about NJ and a bad must counter balance those two great things about being in NJ.
So it stands to reason: once a good talented QB commits to Rutgers and starts breathing NJ air, the talent is turned to gas and leaves through his rear while his play starts smelling and looking like ****

Hey numbnuts … read what was said… “ EXCEPT for Saban”.

We're not even close to the worst offense measured by yards or points. But I'd say our defense is probably between 25 and 50, not top 25.

Yes idiot he’s saying Schiano and Saban are the two coaches who could can turn RU around. Essentially putting GS in the same category as Saban. That’s absolutely moronic. Thanks for saying hello

So you're saying Saban isn't good enough.
Sounds like a reasonable statement

No moron… It wasn’t me who said only Schiano and Saban… it was about contract values of both and where Schiano belongs in the scale of B1G coaches. Always great to hear from a DB my friend

Bump. He's worth crap, because I honestly believe a handful of posters here could do a better job than his loser ass has done in 20 minutes today.

lol, he's the best Hobbs could get for the money and support RU was/is willing to pay.
Schiano is a HC that can make a program respectable , but not one that will make a program considered a top tier one.
What HC since Frank Burns could REU Fans feel like they were winners.
Greg 1 made the fanbase feel that way and G2 has brought the Scarlet Knights to its 2nd bowl qualification year in the return engagement.
Greg Schiano isn't a top of the line HC by any means, but not as bad as his haters claim.
He just does well enough to make minor bowls, but isn't good enough to make RU fans confident about any game they play
I want better, but know RU won't be spending the type of money to bring one in.
You can name any name you want, but why aren't they here .
Because they want more than RU is willing to pay !!!!!

Ah all excuses in my opinion. Northwestern fired their coach and had a huge scandal - yet they're going to finish (at worst) with same record as us.

What is Schiano good at?

Making minor bowl games.
Did it hisfirst go around and this year starting that again.
Twice in his four years back Rutgers is going bowling
He makes Rutgers good enough for bowl qualification, but not good enough to be invited to a major bowl.

You might not like him, but he is making Rutgers better than the program he took over.
Itr's just not the type of program we can brag about and that's his problem when it comes to the RU Fanbase
