Why did we schedule a Saturday basketball game ahead of trip to LV?

Why couldn't we have scheduled the UCA game on Thursday on Friday?

Makes no sense to schedule a game Saturday at 5PM and fly across the country for a Monday midnight tip.

Definitely made a difference in the game....I know I am making an excuse, but it is valid.

Who is in charge of the schedule?

I would assume that's an AD function.

My sense would be they had a lower level , not very good D-1 Program on the East Coast and felt they needed to schedule a W.

It was actually part of this Vegas tourney, a preliminary round game, so assuming we didn't have much say in scheduling this one

We definitely looked tired in the second half and that just might have been the case. We couldn't play Thursday because we were locked into the St. John's game on Thursday as part of the Gavitt games. It was too many games too close together in a short period of time. Hopefully we can rest a little before Wednesday night.

Meanwhile all of the teams have to travel all the way to Vegas, playing in the wee hours of their home time zone and miss three days of classes. Dumb.

I'd think the players enjoy it. Getting away to a destination as a team is also good for morale.

They were very tired in the 2nd half. I posted this in another thread. Lots of guys bent over with their hands on their knees. Whenever you see one of the hardest working guys in Mike Williams being a step or two slow.....you know something is wrong and it's not players being lazy or horrible coaching.

Yes, that is a AD function. The reason the game was scheduled because there
was no women's volley ball games.:sunglasses:

Typical idiot responses..do you realize that Central Arkansas is also part of this tournament and played UMass on Thursday so the game had to be played Saturday

GRF got it right. We should have played Central Arkansas on Tuesday the 17th. Central Arkansas played Tulsa on 11/14 and u Mass on 11/19. They could have done that and it would have been better for both teams. We could have had some rest after the game with the Johnnies before playing in Vegas.

Central Arky didn't make excuses about being tired..they had to play 230 PM after flying out of NJ and probably stopped back in Arkansas. Maybe if RU didn't play an epic death struggle to the buzzer they would have been rested

quite frankly...being tired is a garbage excuse, its the 5th game of the year. Everyone is traveling. At some point a team would have to play games with little rest. Are teams crying because they have to play consecutive days in Hawaii..oh the horror
