Bulsak is gonna be fun at 197. I still feel bad for Pagano being robbed of the NCAA Tourney in 2020 as he definitely would've made AA that year as he was on fire at the end of the season.
familiarity? Turley kind of a big move guy but without seeing the match it's to see how the match played out.
I wouldn't read much into it. Remember when Grello was beating Turley in wrestle offs? Then once he got the starting nod went out and beat the sh*t out of kids like they just punched his grandmother.
I’m going to hope it’s has to do with O’Neill improving a lot. But I would guess it also has a lot to do with Turley knowing what he needed to do to win and didn’t feel the need to try any big moves
100% this. Impossible to know without seeing the match, but when you wrestle the same guy in the room all year, they know you and your tendencies inside and out so a lot of times it’s just survive and win.
Plus Connor was always very stingy defensively in HS.
Clark only beat Benner 2-0 in OT. I have a real bad feeling about 165...again. I'd love to be wrong but we really haven't been any good at that weight since Lewis graduated.
Did he wrestle a few matches last year? I feel like I remember him against Purdue maybe and liking what I saw from him even in a loss
That one is the most concerning by far given that Benner isn’t an elite/top talent. Again, impossible to know without seeing the match and the familiarity factor, but the lack of any offense especially by Clark is a head scratcher on the surface.
Yeah I was hoping to see Clark dominate Benner if he's truly starter material. I feel like both are backups at the B1G level, not starters.
Ok maybe Angelo losing 7-1 to a true frosh is surprising

Boone seems to be separating himself as well with the pin of Espo and 16-0 TF of O’Donnell. Lots of offense which you love to see from a big guy.

If Boone can become a top 20-25 level Heavy (hopefully higher), then our lineup from 174-Heavy will be a strength as opposed to prior years when we were hoping to have a big enough lead heading into 197 and just looking to avoid bonus points.

Mine was an open question, thinking more credit to O'Neill than criticism of Turley. Yes, Turley has started out slow before.
Really liked what I read about Boone and Bulsak at 197 and Heavy. On the other hand, I'm almost completely out on MVB and if he doesnt shape up, I'd rather get someone else in there at 149.
We’re also very strong in the lower weights. The only real hole is 165 but even the top teams in the country, except Iowa have a hole somewhere. Granted ours is probably way worse.
Im confident that we can qualify for nationals, or at least contend for a spot, in 8 of the 10 weight classes. Kannaird can be the 9th but I have minimal hope for 165.
Anthony White had himself a day and I take his performance seriously after taking out Angelo twice.

Why we didn't get a 165 lber in the portal, I have no idea. Maybe we went all out for Griffith and he stayed at Stanford once they reinstated their program and we had no Plan B.
If Sammy can hold the fort at 133 and Turley avoids a let down this is a nice lineup for NCAA despite 165.
White beat Angelo 7-1 and Van Brill 3-2. Trying to find out why no Aragano, but he can Redshirt this year.
