Get us out of our comfort zone offensively and we wilt.

1-3-1 tonight.

Clemson playing tight man to man and we run our offense 35 feet from the basket.

I think B1G teams exploit this and blowouts could be the norm. I'd think Michigan and Beilien could use the 1-3-1.

I doubt Longeran thought it would work the whole game. He only changed how much it extended. This gave it different looks.

Mike Rice...comfortable in chaos..you have to respond to adversity..I just don't see a team with any kind of resiliency and Eddie has said its not his job to call timeout and figure it out, its up to the players to figure it out for themselves...NBA stuff that doesn't fly in college ball

I think the real analysis that none of us want to admit.....Corey Sanders is the PG and a few of these losses are on him...at least on the offensive end. Freshmen are not supposed to have to step in and be the starter at point guard.

He is fine against basic zone or passive man to man.

....obviously entire GW or Clemson lost isn't on him. Offensively though he is the most important part.

Sanders in 5 games against top 100 teams... 11 assists and 16 turnovers.

That's not getting it done.

I am going to get backlash on this. I know he is a freshman. Team is doomed until it clicks.

In fairness to sanders, this team has a tough time even catching the ball. He would be much better on a better team.

The announcers made reference to his poor assist to turnover ratio, which is true, however, it's tough to get assists when players are stagnant, in the wrong positions, or can't finish.

It doesn't help that he's not a very good outside shooter. I actually feel bad for sanders trying to play in this disastrous offense.

This.

Against GW I counted 6 missed lay-ups by RU players, and 6 WIDE OPEN 3 point shots off good passes that clanked. That is 12 assist opportunities missed ... though of course you cannot expect ALL of those shots to go down. Not to mention the frequent dropped balls in the paint by RU players after the ball is delivered. And this has happened frequently this year, including against SHU. Even with the massive amount of turnovers (and everyone on RU was guilty of this against GW, but Daniels ... oh my goodness!), RU should have had at least 20 more points than they did midway through the 2nd half ... that would have been a 10 point game at the time (that assumed that RU should have made HALF their wide open 3 point shots they missed - 3 - and their missed lay-ups).

Freeman's absence is huge - by more than the pure number of points per game he might score. Freeman is the best offensive finisher in the paint. None of RU's other forwards are good finishers. Foremen is an improved finisher versus last season, but not yet consistent. Lewis has been bad except for ONE game this year. Diallo is very much a work in progress, and does not have a clue about how to finish yet. Doorson is out.

Need Freeman, does finish well. And Daniels is just so foolish with the ball. And I would play 1-3-1 versus Ru more often. And I wish Doorson was back.

The only way Sanders stays with Rutgers is if you bring in a legit. coach soon after the season mercifully ends.

Sanders is a very good Player that is a frosh. Force it for him

Johnson is a good price for next year

Laurent needs to be forced

And we need a coach that coaches defense

I thought Sanders was supposed to be a great shooter.

corey has a high turnover to assist ratio because he has some hellacious turnovers. Sure, guys can't finish too, but he is careless with ball. Yet another sign of poor coaching.

Can we please stop referencing Mike Rice as if he was Coack K.

Rice sucked too.
When your team looks terrible, even past coaches that never lived up to the hype surrounding
have fans talking about them like they deserve HOF honors for the way their losing teams played under them.

Sanders slashing style worked in high school but against bigger more athletic defenders in college, turnovers are occurring .The supporting cast on the floor certainly doesn't help the stats for Sanders.

Sanders has never been known as a great shooter. He's the best we've got and he's definitely good. But if you are the opposing coach right now you aren't too disappointed when you see him shoot the 3.

So all this hype was about a PG who can't shoot? What's the difference between him and Mike Sherrod?

Really? Sherrod chipped paint off the rims. Sanders is 200 million times better than Sherrod

Sanders is a decent shooter but he isn't lights out. He definitely is a threat to score, unlike everyone else sans Freeman.

Back off defsnsively , shut off the paint and make our guys shoot it from beyond 12 feet. We have no chance of winning at all.

You are right about that. Packed in 2-3 zone and we are toast. Get athletic with the 2-3 like Syracuse and we might not score. The people in the stands would need to wear helmets.

Also a sign that he's a freshman.

Well I think the coach is suppose to coach players and make them better. But EJ thinks you put them on the floor and they are ready to play. Wrong league Eddie.

Rutgers has not fielded a mentally high BBall IQ team and high BBall hustling team since Hodgeson/Billet/Kent days. That is on coaching and recruiting, neither of which has been done well at Rutgers since Dick Vitale was here.

No, Rice didn't "suck too".....Mike Rice happens to be a good strategic coach who DEMANDED DEFENSE! His teams couldn't make foul shots but we seldom got blown out like we do now....one more thing: no one liked the video of throwing basketballs or homophobic comments.....that was admittedly wrong and if it wasn't videotaped he would still be at RU coaching......my point: Mike Rice and Ray RIce deserve second chances.....we've all made mistakes and none of us are perfect....

Rice got off to a nice start at RU but he was stagnating as a coach when the story about him broke. I doubt if he would still be here. It had looked like he was out of tricks and the players weren't responding to him like they were at first. That being said, Jordan isn't in the same league as Rice as a college coach.
