Can Wisconsin find a way to finish 18-13 (10-8) and have a shot at NCAA w/ a win or 2 in B1G tourney

Will Wisconsin finish 10-8 or better in B1G?

no...they will finish 8-10 or 9-9 in league but overall with the 8-5 OOC record and some bad losses, its not going to happen for them this year. Too many losses, too young and the loss of Ryan will create too many inconsistencies. At 9-7/1-2 they face a gauntlet their next 3 where they may wind up 9-10/1-5

they are 1-2 now and i think they will improve to at least get in to the conversation at the B1G tournament.

They have tons of toss up games

Maryland won, and I do not think they make it. Wisconsin has at least 5 home losses already.

Why can't we have a team like Wisconsin? Not a ton of massive recruits, but play with great effort, buy in to their style, basketball IQ and COACHING.

Blow Indiana game going 21-43 from FT line. Couldn't make 3s, exceptShowalter at end, vs MD.

They are real close, but margin of error is getting smaller.

at 9-8 its not going to happen with them

also Northwestern has lost 2 of its best players to injury so lets see how they respond and if they make excuses going forward...currently they are up 6 at Minnesota

Id love to be 13-3 right now...Collins third season, I would love to have him as coach. I like their style and for a school even more moribund than Rutgers, its evidence that you can do it without using lack of support and facilities as crutches

All starts and stops with the coach. We haven't had a capable one in forever,

Little Ricky is going to have a hot seat by the end of the year. Losing by double digits to Northwestern right now is one of the sign of or sign of lack of progress. Similar to Eddie vs Nebby today. Minnesota looks every bit as bad as Rutgers and it looks like these two are distinguishing themselves as the worst in the Big 10.

Wisconsin goes down at Northwestern to fall to 9-9 and 1-4 with a home game on CBS Sunday vs Michigan State. Its basically a must win for them if they have any shot at recovering their season and making a NCAA push

its looking real, real bleak. Nigel Hayes is not impressing me. Bronson Koenig is a very good role player. These guys are being asked to do the heavy lifting and it isnt working.

Looks like Gard won't be kept on as HC next year and Alvarez will look elsewhere .
Ryan got him a shot, but looks like it's not working out to Gard's advantage

its not all his fault...tough schedule to start the year and just to many losses to overcome. I think Bo Ryan would have the same record right now, even with Bo they had some bad losses earlier this year.

you are right though they will move on. I wonder who they consider. Seems like they don't go for the splashy hire at that school but it seems to work

They have plenty to sell----great Arena-----rabid fan base----top of the line school in one of the best college towns in the country.

They won't overpay.

If they make a change they'll have a ton of guys who will go hard for the job.

and somehow Wisky pulls it out vs MSU despite being down 4 and after they just to 1, they stole the MSU inbound and converted the winning bucket. MSU drops their 2nd in a row and now has 3 league losses.

Rooting for Gard to have a good enough year to be retained, but doubt Alvarez wants to keep him
( only my guess, nothing I know as a fact) and he'll be replaced with a HC more favorably to what BA wanted before Ryan resigned suddenly not giving Wisconsin's AD a chance to look for someone .
Heck I don't en know why I care enough about Gard to want him to keep his position.
Guess it's just liking to see assistants move up when their bosses leave.

First loss of the season in league play for Indiana. We may have written their obituary too soon. Wisky has some easier games ahead but while they are tough at home lets see how they handle the road. A lot of losses overall but if they can take down Iowa that's another plus for their resume

Bac give me a probability 20%?

Hayes looked like a different man. They won despite Koenig laying an egg.

Indiana turned the ball over a thousand times. I don't think many of us will have Indiana going far in our brackets

Lunardi says yes, if the Badgers finish 10-8 and avoid any more bad losses, they will be in. Crossing my fingers! Win the next three (Illinois, Nebraska, Ohio State), steal one from Maryland, Michigan State or Iowa and maybe pick up a win or two in the BTT, and we'll be in business to keep our 17-year tournament streak alive.

Every hoops program should be so lucky to find their Bo Ryan. He was an absolute master.

Definitely not a strong team right now. Schedule is very tough. Illinois, Ohio State, Nebraska has a slip up embedded. Only Rutgers and Minnesota are givens in this league. ( I didn't check minny-Purdue score last night yet)
