Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Rutgers Football set to welcome No. 5 Michigan to town

Wimsatt appears to have no accuracy. That is hard to reach. We may need to recruit a QB.

You guys realize wimstatt’s offensive line is embarrassingly bad. Right?
Doesn't help that we don't use them correctly. We brought in all these big plodding power linemen, and we have passing plays with long patterns forcing the QB to hold the ball, and try to run horizontally. The obvious answer is power running game, quick RPO passing game with slants, hooks, swings, and play action. We actually have the skill personnel for it too...

Yea luckily they were 3-4 rows back and I was as not in direct line of fire. But season ticket holders should not have to go through that in their own stadium. Been to many stadiums and visiting teams are not given the benefit of the doubt. Especially obviously drunk fans.

Agree but I always try to remind myself the same thing. Not worth it.

Accuracy is teachable. The question is whether or not RU has an OC that can teach it.
Name 1 QB who went from an interception machine to a great QB as a collegiate
It not going to happen.
not the x’s and 0’s it’s the Jimmy’s and Joe’s

With Sam Brown You can run more rushing plays which helps time of possession; gives defense more rest; and reduces the need for risky passes.

He gets a free pass this season, but next season after the same mistakes he sits.
If he starts next season I am out!!!
I have wasted my entire lifetime collegiate football fandom on this crap 💩

Schiano does not have it im sorry. Terrible game plan abandoning the run from the get go. Had to create something on the ground second half. What happened to the QB runs that we saw Wimsatt earlier in the year. Get it together ****ing

Except for the gimmicky COVID shortened season, Schiano 2.0 has not shown a P5 offense yet.

I said all year he lofts passes too high
They are slow to arrive and then they are contested balls
RU receivers knew that and played the ball - Michigan caught-on
Alas, a new 19 yr old QB was going to be streaky
He has a lot of talent but even good QBs have lost good careers from sky passes

Gavin looked pretty solid in the first half but those mistakes in the second half were brutal. What happened to the RPO?

I wouldn't say that. He throws a "hot" ball a little too often for short passes... resulting in tip ints. But plenty of good WRs catch balls like that.

He had 2 bad INTS. The first was because he made a good presnap read followed by NO post-snap read. he did not see the LB.. who showed blitz.. drop into coverage on teh WR he knew would be open UNDER the man coverage. he threw it to teh right spot.. but the LB read the play all the way. Good scouting by Michigan and that LB. Fooled a rookie QB.

other than the tips.. the second bad INT was that long pass toward a well-covered WR. 3 defenders in the vicinity. Just stupid.

his run OOB for a loss of 5 was a sign of giving up.. if he was thinking properly he would have thrown it past teh sticks OOB.

his throw into he feet of a covered WR was a sign of.. what.. surrender? Not a good sign.. but he is young. I did notice Nunzio looking at him very carefully after that 3rd down throw to the turf.. eh wants eye contact to see.. imho.. if his QB had quit. Wimsatt avoided eye contact... but that was, I think, a great thing to see from Nunzio.. as was a conference between GS, Nunzio and Wimsatt.

Wimsatt has a lot to learn... but he CAN get there.. imho. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't recruit QBs.. transfers and HS. We should. But Wimsatt can still grow and become a good one.

It was bad in the club. 4 drunk young a-holes being dicks the entire game.

He has thrown 9 interceptions in 90 attempts WTF 😳

Total BS
You can teach a QB to read Defenses, look for Receiver options, etc.
You can’t teach accuracy. Either you have it or you don’t.
Gavin has thrown one interception in every 10 passes. Totally unacceptable at any level.. especially in a major CFB Conference. One in 10 ! He gets a pass because he is a Freshman…if this continues into early next season we need to move to other QB options …. Portal must be tapped immediately.

For that to work, you need to get first downs. To do that with the running game, you need a real OL.

How did Josh Allen learn accuracy? He certainly didn't have it in college. Or his first 2 seasons in the NFL.

Did security do anything about them? There was a time that kind of behavior would earn you an escort out of the club
Was able to speak to the North Brunswick cop today (know a couple North Brunswick cops that put me in touch) that came to my section last night due to 4 belligerent drunk Michigan fans.
He said their hands are tied. They have been instructed not to intervene and remove fans unless they witness the event. This policy if true will not end well for Rutgers. It will lead to another media black eye for Rutgers. This year has been the worst as far as visiting fans acting like dbags.
