I Thought Dean Would Be A Positive Contributing Factor This Year.

Unfortunately I actually agree with both of you.....

Does Reiber defend a 4 or even 5 better than Hyatt?
We know Hyatt is a better rebounder on both sides
Hyatt is the better defensive player at any position your going to put him at. On offense, Dean passes better, moves better without the ball and knows his own limitations (doesn’t try to take on better players in Iso). At least the version of him from last year. He hasn’t looked good this season at all.

Dean is definitely the kind of player who you’d expect to play better offensively with a better surrounding cast. Let’s see how things go when Paul gets back.

Not really. Only Dean seems like he’s regressed. Miller is better than he was last year. Significantly so. He’ll never be a star, but I now believe he can be a solid role player over the next few seasons. Hyatt is shooting better than last year. He’s not worse than he he was - it’s just that he’s playing more and many of the flaws that landed him on the bench last year haven’t gone away. Mag seems about the same to me as last year too. Caleb is coming off injury but still doesn’t seem like he’s regressed. Cliff’s numbers have improved. His defense is worse but that’s because of the style we’ve been playing not regression. He wouldn’t have looked good in the zone last year either.
Agree.as frustrating as the other night was - everyone other than Dean looks better than last year - and yes that includes cliff, mag and Hyatt. All are doing things they didn’t do last year and doing certain things better. If you don’t see that then I don’t know what to tell you.

It’s sad that with this board you can’t give an honest opinion without ppl yelling at you if there’s anything negative said. Hence why you had to put your first sentence.

But it’s absolutely true, Dean is a guy who is not going win on his own, he needs teammmates to set him up for him to succeed
Who cares, let them yell! You have an opinion just like them. You may be right or not, it’s still your opinion. It’s easy to sit behind a keyboard and act like you know everything.

The problem is, the two things he hasn't shown he can do yet (or at least do consistently) is score from the 4 or defend the 4.
Not arguing for Dean, as I am uncertain. I was simply replying to the question about what he did better than Hyatt.

Hyatt and Mag get called for that first step walk that drives me nuts. Reiber doesn't seem to do that.
I also agree that the hockey line shift with three new cold guys coming in doesn't help Reiber and is bad for the offense in general. Anybody coming in on a shift with Miller is going to see their offensive stats suffer.

That said, I'd rank them:
Woolfolk
Hyatt
Mag
Reiber

but I'd give Woolfolk a quick hook on mistakes and probably give Reiber the minutes at the end of a tight game. Especially with a smaller Miami team, I think Pikes missed a chance for Woolfolk to get some PT where he can physically dominate his space.

My experience of Pike is that he improves his use of the team as the season goes on.
