Every single year injuries are trotted out as an excuse, as if we have more of them every single year than anyone else.

We dont have more than others, but we have less depth than the majority of teams in our division of the B10. Our #1s sometimes are as good or better than elite teams. Our #2s rarely are.
Maybe. You find a way to win or you don't. Schiano and his fans remind me of George McClellan, always calling for more time and more troops and always making excuses and rarely delivering much.
We are bowl eligible. We were not last year. Steady improvement. But not where we need to be yet.
i suppose you mean ‘adequate’ and not ‘fine’ in that specific scenario. The problem is, that approach doesn’t work against good teams (2.0 hasn’t beaten any with a winning record), so he’s simply not good enough at the position when we need him to do something besides handing off or running it himself.

No, we don't all agree to that statement. It's too oversimplified to be accurate.
Our passing game struggles due to a combination of problems with multiple players. Not solely because of GW.

I agree that I’d like to see Gavin run for, but primarily to keep a defender off the running back, rather than because any great running ability from the quarterback spot that I see from Gavin. He is not the kind of runner who is quick, fast, yes, but not with a sudden burst, he can’t juke anyone out, and he doesn’t lower the. Shoulder and push the pile for an extra two or 3 yards. His best running play may be a quarterback draw, where if he can get past the rushers, he’s got several yards before the first defender greets him. Again, I’d like to see him run more, but not so much that it’s his strength, but that it will help the running back.

That might be a reasonable analogy if McClellan didn't have the equivalent of Ohio St. or Michigan with regards to the troops, arms and supplies. He did.
We completely imploded against Iowa. It felt like the players and the coaches never got off the bus, which is frustrating after showing fight against Michigan and OSU.
A better opponent requires absolutely PERFECT play by RU. There is no margin for error with this limited offense and special teams. Hopefully with an upgrade in talent, we will be able to overcome mistakes and GS won't be so conservative.
After the 3rd possession, it felt like it was over for us. The false start on our 1st possession in the 2nd half eliminated any glimmer of hope.
Beat Maryland to finish strong. Forget about the PSU game. I'm not even thinking about that game.

During the COVID year, we threw caution to the wind and were the trick play specialists. Against PSU, if we find that our vanilla game plan doesn't work, why not go to the gadget plays? Nothing to lose...we're going to be big underdogs anyway.
Iowa and Wisconsin are not Ohio State and Michigan. But the main point you missed is that sometimes you have to go ahead and work with what you have and stop demanding more time.

He has made some nice throws but has made some real head scratchers. He hasn't done much on the ground lately even when it seems obvious he should pull the ball back and run. Is that his decision or one predetermined by the coaches, which is even worse, because wide open running lanes are there and they aren't letting him decide. I'll add INTs, percentage of interceptions per dropback and Pick 6s to some of the many stats to consider as well. I'm just not seeing it and I really want him to succeed by the way.
then what’s the alternate explanation for his QB ranking around the very bottom in several categories ? are his receivers as a group also among the very worst in the country ? Is the OL pass-blocking the worst in the country ? is the playcalling the worst in the country and responsible for his poor passing ? does the eye test say something different than the stats ?
If the answer to these questions is no, the only valid conclusion on the futility of the near-lowest ranked passing game is that it’s primarily him.
Great athlete but poor QB, unfortunately. Athleticism isn’t a requirement for the position. Just the other day we saw an overweight, backup oaf QB also without top receivers completely outplay him.

Schiano delivered a bowl bid, no thanks to you. He delivered competitive games for three quarters against elite competition, despite talent constraints.
There’s no finding a way to win if you lack troops and resources. McClellan had ample amounts of both. And that is why he was fired.
Rutgers does not, when it comes to competing against OSU, PSU, and Michigan. The differences are stark, and noticeable, as soon as you step on the respective campuses. So your analogy, as usual, is invalid.
We need more talent on the offensive side of the ball, and thankfully it’s on its way. But we have to build the infrastructure to sustain a successful program that can be competitive with the elite programs in the conference.
Schiano gets $4 million per year and I'm supposed to give more to him so he can coach a QB to throw a pass? Your only song is gimmegimmegimme.
As bad as Teel was statistically as a frosh (2 tds, 10 picks) he was a 50% passer and produced 6.8 yds/attempt in 2005. Gavin - 22 career starts in - is 6.1 this year and is a career 46.7% passer.
We play in the Big 10, not Fantasyland.
Schiano’s 4 million is his coaches salary. Ryan Days salary is $10M. And Ohio State alum kicked in another $13M to fund NIL for their football team. If we want to compete with Ohio State, we will need to boost our NIL giving. Otherwise we will just have to accept that we will lose to them for the foreseeable future. Same with Iowa, though their nil support is on a smaller scale.
I know you don’t want to donate. But it’s hard for me to understand how you are so willing to run your mouth, despite your unwillingness to do so.

at the very least, we should have a full wide receiver room next season. Right now we have a banged up Jackson, freshman Strong and two healthy possession receivers in Washington and Dremel. Between this year's freshman class and next year's, there's a lot of players that should be able to contribute.
As a fan of both college and pro football, and someone who gets into the NFL Draft, I notice that one of the main concerns in evaluating a QB predraft is whether they will handle throwing into the tiny windows available against NFL defenses, because their WRs won’t often be wide open like they are in college.
Well, it’s not to say that Wimsatt doesn’t make some bad throws, but RU in the B1G is asking their QBs to perform more like an NFL QB than many schools (little WR separation, limited protection time).
That certainly doesn’t mean he should hang onto the job regardless of performance (like the Jets sticking will Wilson because they drafted him high), and we should definitely try and bring in more competition for him, but I would like to see him with an upgraded WR group that can get separation and especially some viable pass catching TEs.

Once we were behind we had no chance. That defense is good and Sutton i thought struggled. Agree with Al. We are bowl eligible. Have won every game that was 50/50 to me. Va Tech and Indiana etc. people love to complain. Iowa is 8-2. Did not expect to win out there.

At any given time- and Mike is one of my favorites. But on his OL through his years- 5 guys that have at least started mult games in the NFL- Zuttah, Davis, Stephenson,Stapleton, Haslam. 2 guys that had mult years in camps- Fladell, Ryan B, and a top performer in college that got injured, Sosa.
Mult years- we led the NCAA in least sacks given up.
Next year the freshman class will be acclimating, so in two years we’ll be exactly where we want to be.
Exactly how someone can not realize this is beyond me.

Really tough game for the OLine. Seemed to me that they were still spent from their great game vs Ohio State. Mentally and physically.
Pre-snap penalties, poor run blocking, etc. When we can’t establish the running game and control time of possession we are done. We just don’t have the passing game to overcome that. It is what it is.
Still we are improved year over year by leaps and bounds.

There are three issues from some fans.
1. They think they know football and they do not.
2. They think they know coaching kids and they do not.
3. Their ego gets really upset because they want to hang around the proverbial water cooler and dick measure with their coworkers who are OSU, MSU, Bama fans etc.
The same thing that hurts high school sports, and youth sports, make it really hard to talk about college sports with people.
