The rules are a little different from what you say; except under special circumstances regarding an injured player, the post-season roster must come from the 25 or 40 man rosters. The rule saying that a player acquired after 9/1 can't be on the postseason roster appears to stay in effect unless I read too quickly. http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-roster-rules-eligibility

Not necessarily. You don't have to be on the active roster by September 1 to be postseason eligible. You just have to be in the organization.

If he is on the 60 day dL, which I believe he is, then he is off the 40-man roster. I think you have to be on 40 man roster 9/1 to play in post season.

Your first sentence is correct but your second is not. As long as you are on either the 40 man roster or the 60 day IL on August 31 at 11:59PM, you can be added to the 25 man postseason roster.

On the rehab front:

Jeff McNeil led off the game for Syracuse. In true McNeil fashion, he was hit by a pitch, stole second, and later scored. He got an inning in RF, but then the rains came and that was that.

Brandon Nimmo was a DNP. No problem I don't think, just a scheduled day off.

Jed Lowrie DH'd for St. Lucie and went 1 for 4. He has yet to play in the field, which suggests that his return is not imminent.

Supposedly McNeil will be playing some 3rd base down there as well, which jives with this

So unless Frazier starts hitting he looks to be a guy getting the squeeze as players come back.
