Did Flexen and the Mets get hosed this morning?

Was the umpire Enrico Pallazo?

Flexen would have lost it anyway. There was almost no hope once Gselman was out of the game. The Mets would have had to have scored 5 runs in the top of the inning and hoped the Brewers only got 4.

It’s amazing what garbage pitchers are in our AAA farm system. Flexen, Oswalt, Peterson, Avilan, etc. throw in Vargas and it’s all absolute garbage.

The revolving door in the back of the pen continues. O'Rourke and the unfortunate Flexen down, Peterson and Bashlor up. That's Tim Peterson the fringe reliever, not David Peterson the high level prospect.

I’ve been a Mets fan since ‘69 and today’s lineup has to be one of the ten worst ever:

Leadoff is Hechavarria. 5-9 is:

Frazier. .162
Broxton. .143
Lagares. .207
Nido. .091
Vargas

That’s a Little League lineup.

Why did Gagnon pitch only 1/3 of an inning last night?
Because in a one-on, one-out situation, with two tough lefty hitters coming up, Callaway preferred the lefty O'Rourke. Of course Mickey didn't anticipate that O'Rourke would walk them both. (He got bailed out by a baserunning blunder.) Seemed like a good idea at the time, at least to me.

ICYMI, Dodgers sign d'Arnaud to their major league roster. Dave Roberts says he'll be used as a utility man and see time as both IF and OF. We'll see how that works out, I guess.

AND CAN THE METS PUT VARGAS IN THE BULLPEN IF HE CANT GO PAST 4 INNINGS A START? DAMM... NO WONDER THE BULLPEN HAS BEEN STRETCHED IN FREAKING MAY!!!!!

If they were going to make a half-assed effort by getting Diaz and a dinosaur singles hitter, they should have just kept Kelenic and blown it up. Diaz only works if there are leads to save.

If this goes on for another month, then it would be time to trade deGrom, Thor, Wheeler, Matz, Diaz, Conforto, Nimmo. Build around Rosario, McNeil and Alonso. I bet trading those guys will net enough to start the rebuilding process.

Will work out well for Dodgers....d'Arnaud can hit........

What is the excuse for Nimmo? He has been horrible. Cano was hitting before he got hit on the hand.

Nimmo had an amazing year last year so I'm not ready to totally bury him yet. Conforto will come around also.

Traded for RP Wilmer Font from the Rays.

Vargas probably going to DL and Matz will be skipped some starts but no structural damage.

Have no idea what your posts mean. What is Cash and/OR PTBNL???

Did the Mets make a trade with Tampa Bay--is that what you are saying?

It's pretty clear from my original post Traded for RP Wilmer Font from the Rays. Not trying to be rude but what is hard to follow there?

Yes the Mets traded cash and/or a Player To Be Named Later (PTBNL). It wasn't clear from the tweet I saw if it was both or either. The relief pitcher is from the Rays and named Wilmer Font.

Yep. Wilmer Font is a real live person and is a Met. PTBNL is Player to be named later.

Can make room on the 40 man by moving Cespedes to the 60 day IL. Or the 600 day if that's easier.

Thanks for the clarification. Your first post made no sense to me, as I have no idea who Wilmer Font is or that he played for the Rays. Also did not say who trade for whom, but now I got it that it is for cash or a player to be named layer. I am acronym challenged. :flushed:

In the future I will try and make it more clear for everyone! :)

SCORECARDS! Get yer scorecards! Can't tell the Mets bullpen without a scorecard!

Transactions du jour:

Justin Wilson activated from IL.
Jason Vargas placed on IL.
Corey Oswalt back from Syracuse. He will likely take Matz' start on Wednesday, although Matz hasn't been moved to the IL - yet.
Tim Peterson sent back to Syracuse. He leaves with the Mets' sincerest thanks for saving the bullpen on Sunday. But he leaves nontheless.

And something to look forward to tomorrow: The new guy Wilmer Font is expected to arrive in SD and be activated. So a corresponding move will be made. Maybe Matz to IL. Or not.

As tonight's game has that 18 inning feel to it, I'm going to bed.

On the Michael Kay Show they talked about Calloway may not survive the road trip especially if the Mets go 0-6. There was talk about Calloway being relieved of duties before the start of the season because he was not the choice of the new GM.

I hope so. We need new leadership.
