There’s something to be said about these replacement bench players and the desire and hunger they exhibit. The Yankees have been quite successful for the last 6 weeks and hopefully that karma resides with the Mets as well. When you have desire and drive such as with Gomez, jd davis etc - it’s worth it’s weight in gold over dead weight such as cano, nimmo etc. So refreshing to watch and enjoy

Agreed 100% Too bad most of the dead weight are former BVW clients.

Well we are going to agree to disagree. I would make the trade again today. Yes Cano is over the hill but I assign more value to Diaz then to the two prospects. They may never get to the majors and here we have a front line closer in his prime. The Mets have a window now with their pitchers. You cannot wait years and hope for Kelenic and Dunn.

Which is fine if you think the window is open and you want to go for it I get it. We could have used our resources more wisely though in my opinion. DIaz is great not questioning that so yes agree to disagree :).

Anyways phenomenal win again today and can't believe we could get swept by the Marlins and then pull this off. As I mentioned after the victory Monday hopefully the shenanigans against the Marlins were the low point springboard the team needed. Need Conforto back ASAP with all these other injuries.

Mets add more outfield depth as they pick up ex-Phillie Aaron Altherr on waivers. He is out of options and must be added to the roster tomorrow. So someone will have to be dropped. Someone else must go on Saturday when Vargas will be activated.

Transactions du jour:

Mets activate Aaron Altherr. He is in uniform tonight and rocking #23. No word on who is Uber driver was. Ryan O'Rourke optioned to Syracuse to make room on the 25 man. Tim Peterson DFA'd to make room on the 40 man.

Ervin Santana and Matt Kemp signed to minor league contracts. Low risk, low reward. But guys like that helped win the last two games, so you never know.

I would be happy if they keep this attitude going the whole year. Needed more Gomez, Alonso, Echeverria, swag... less Frazier, Broxton BS.

But alas, game is still not over yet so... MEH.

There is a report out that the Mets just signed Matt Kemp as more insurance to that often injured outfield.

Would be nice for this ‘ace-ish’ to hold yet another lead after 0-4, but don’t hold your breath

Pitching is optional. How in the hell are the Mets in a slugfest with Tigers? Tigers can't hit to save their lives.

The Mets are slightly better than the worst team in the league... the Nationals. This series is the Marlins series all over again.

How are Hechevarria and Altherr, who have been hitting far worse than the Tigers, part of that slugfest?

Because this is baseball, they are all major leaguers, they didn't get there by sucking, you play 162, and some of those 162 can get kinda weird.

But y'all knew that.

I have an idea for BVW. Since the vets are doing well as replacements for the injured outfield, why not sign some replacement pitching. Go out and sign Dallas Keuchel as a starter to replace Vargas or Thor. Sign Craig Kimbrel for bullpen help.

Statically Tigers is in the bottom 4 teams in most offensive categories. While the Mets aren't great, they are in the middle of the pack. Throw in the face the Tigers' pitching staff is sh*tty at best. Too often the Mets match the style of the team they are playing. If the team is perceived as bad, so are the Mets. If the opponents are good, the Mets will hand with them for a while.
