ICYMI, Familia to IL, Gagnon down, Zamora and Nogosek up. I have high hopes for Nogosek. But then I also did for Jacob Rhame
As long as Nogosek doesn't look like a CPA like Rhame does, he'll be fine. Pitchers need to look tough not like wussies like Rhame; Flexen etc.

wrc+ (rank in majors)

Alonso 155 (7)
McNeil 138 (26)
Conforto (29)

The 3 need to be in the lineup everyday and batting 1-3 or 2-4 whichever.

Out for the year and hopefully ready ok for next year. Why have him play this season?

If I were the Met's and he gets healthy, I put him back in there and hope he can increase his trade value for the winter...

Alonso and McNeil are so fun to watch. deGrom back to his 2018 self!!
Am I the only one that watches McNeil and think a more talented Bachman. BTW- what team in their right mind puts a shift on McNeil? Also loved M Piazza's comment on the shift the other night "I would have hit .400"

What was with that call on McNeil for running out of the baseline? How do you run through first base without being in fair territory when touching first?

Cano and JL (when he is ready to play) need 2 of those spots.

So- Conforto with 2 hits and a monster HR, Alonso with 4 hits 3 for Xtra bases and 2 walks and McNeil with 3 hits and a HR...I guess I should sit all 3 in my fantasy league today.

MLB.com has updated its list of Top 100 prospects. Three Mets made it:
Andres Gimenez #59
Ronny Mauricio #83
Anthony Kay #96

A bit disconcerting that we have no one in the top 50. But these lists are not the be all and end all. I don't think Alonso ever made top 50. And McNeil never came close.

Mets announce that Walker Lockett, who was obtained in the Plawecki trade, will be brought up tomorrow to take Syndergaard's start.

Kelenic #25
Dunn #68

Atlanta has Blevins and Swarzak? I missed both of those.

Yeah Blevins signed there in April I think and faced Alonso at some point in this series. Swarzak was traded there end of May has been excellent with them. 0.73 ERA and 3.10 FIP.

The great mystery of Jed Lowrie continues. Fellow classmate of BVW's at Stanford may have a new injury. Why was he acquired anyway?
https://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/jed-lowrie-injury-update-1.32437371
Lowrie, 35, signed with the Mets in January when Van Wagenen, his former longtime agent and a fellow Stanford product, offered him a two-year, $20-million contract. Lowrie had a lengthy history of injuries — but had averaged 155 games the previous two seasons — and joined an already-crowded infield depth chart.
How did Lowrie pass a physical in January and be completely unable to play by February?

No it's not. It was an awful deal when it was made and it looks worse every single day. The Mets had all of the leverage and Brodie got taken like the rookie in over his head GM that he is.
It's really one of the worst deals in franchise history already and could get worse.
If only that were true...

I lost all respect for Matz tonight after the way he reacted after the lead off single that fell in front of Davis in left field. Matz acted like he just lost the World Series and totally disrespected his teammate. Davis was playing out of position and just didn’t make the catch but Matz overreacted badly. I knew that he’d lose his focus and give up a dinger to the next guy and that’s exactly what he did and from there it was game over. That shows me that Matz will never be tough enough to bear down and deal with adversity which is why he always seems to implode and give up dingers in the same inning he give up a few hits. His mental toughness is not there and if a shrink can’t fix it he needs to be traded for a damn center fielder that can hit above the Mendoza line and put up some homers plus a few freakin relievers who can get guys out.

Of course Swarzak is...

In regard to the Cano/Diaz deal- here now lies the question, would Kimbrel have signed with the Mets? For how long and how much. And if we waited until last month and pieced together a closer until now, would we be any worse than we are now? Maybe even have brought in a guy like Holland on the cheap.
Even if Cano and Diaz finish up strong, Cano will be a reason that a young player will get less playing time and he has to be slotted in at 2B for the next 2 years because of contract. I also wonder if we had known that both Alonso and Smith would have super breakout years at 1B, would we have still made that trade as Cano could have been a fill in at 1B if needed. Bottomline- Cano, even if he starts playing up to a .285 15 80 guy for the next year and half, is going to make us trade a young kid at some point. I would much rather be where we are now with McNeil, Davis, Smith and Alonso playing every day. As for Lowrey- I find it hard to believe he was completely healthy when signed. But I also think he would be a nice player to have on a team but not at the money we signed him for. Surprised we didn't end up with Pollack as he would have fit in perfectly- big money and on the IL. The guy I did want to sign in the OF was Brantley.
Very worried about our starters. Matz is a superstar ACE one day and a POS the next. Noah has become very middle of the road and doesn't even strike out as many as he used to. Don't know what the hell is going on with Wheeler...As for deGrom- he is just very good even in what seems to be a off year. But you can see that he is so fed up with the bullpen and offensive support. We need this guy out there knowing he has a team behind him.
And is there any way to morph Nido and Ramos...Amazing how when we saw Ramos killing us for years, he never seemed this bad behind the plate but he makes Sanchez look like a GG. At least Nido has actually hit a little this year.

BVW trying to save himself. I doubt those coaches put together this crappy roster and bullpen.
I believe he was adamant in telling Familia to just through high sinkers and don’t worry if they hit it hard and Noah to stop worrying about speed AND control, it’s overrated...
