Even if predictable they only pitch 80 or so inningsDiaz is not even an average reliever right now. Never ever overpay for any reliever unless he is Mariano Rivera. They are way too unpredictable.
Worst. Trade. Ever.
Trading two top prospectsand a serviceable hitter for an over the hill, PEDed, BVW client Robinson Cano and an overrated closer who was a one year wonder is up there with Nolan Ryan. Its definitely worse than:You must be too young to remember trading young Nolan Ryan for an over-the-hill Jim Fregosi.
Lets take back half of the 21 games that the Mets Bullpen have blown this year. They would be 47-35, 1 game behind the Braves.Imagine how many games we would have lost if BVW was not coaching from home[sick]
I'm actually going to defend that trade, kinda sorta. Mets had an abundance of young pitching and were dealing from excess. Ryan had plateaued as a prospect. No guarantee he would have made it big as a Met. Maybe he needed the change of scenery. You must be too young to remember trading young Nolan Ryan for an over-the-hill Jim Fregosi.
I’d take a team of scumbags as long as they are winners. We don’t need to league the league in nice guysTrading two top prospectsand a serviceable hitter for an over the hill, PEDed Robinson Cano and an overrated closer who was a one year wonder is up there with Nolan Ryan. Its definitely worse than:
- Zambrano/Kazmir
- Bordick/Mora
- Samuel/Dykstra (even if Dykstra was a scumbag)

Hindsight is 20/20 dude.Like I was saying in regards to Diaz.
Ultra dissapointing.
NmLets take back half of the 21 games that the Mets Bullpen have blown this year. They would be 47-35, 1 game behind the Braves.
Thats why that 86 team ONLY won 1 World Series, not the 2, 3 that group shouldve won.I’d take a team of scumbags as long as they are winners. We don’t need to league the league in nice guys

That trade was not a disaster because of what Ryan went on to do. It was a disaster because of what Fregosi failed to do.
No hindsight. Kid was a one year wonder.Hindsight is 20/20 dude.
We won’t make .500 with this teamThats why that 86 team ONLY won 1 World Series, not the 2, 3 that group shouldve won.
Huh you responding to me? Where did I say you lied?Where did I lie? They didnt blow 21 late leads this year?
Actually agree with you about Diaz. But when Jeffy is oroving Einstein's theory on Insanity correct every year and when BVW is treating this as a Draft Kings board with his former clients, NOTHING is going to change... esp with Jeffy in charge. We won’t make .500 with this team
Again I’d gladly take a World Series could care less about “character guys”
Diaz does not seem like a “scumbag”. Just totally not in touch with reality. I was ready to punch him thru the TV with how he answered his post game questions.
My fault. Saw the nm on the blown leads post... Sorry. Forget it.Huh you responding to me? Where did I say you lied?
I took back what I was going to write because I did not want to do the research. Was going to say we would be in first because I believe we blew games against the BravesMy fault. Saw the nm on the blown leads post... Sorry. Forget it.
Or am I clairvoyant? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:Hindsight is 20/20 dude.
I could be wrong but Boomer did say yesterday the Mets blew 19 games this year (well before last night and this morning). Wrong or not, even if they blew 15 before July is an amazing stat, let alone 21.I took back what I was going to write because I did not want to do the research. Was going to say we would be in first because I believe we blew games against the Braves
He showed his colors vs StL and in LA. That was it for me.Or am I clairvoyant? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Either way, hes been not good this year and this was a moment for him to reestablish himself as a big time reliever, and instead he reinforced the notion that he is not.
You willing to take over for BVW? You can't be any worse.Or am I clairvoyant? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
