OT: Anyone been to the Jersey Shore yet

I don't know about other towns but from what I understand rents here are crazy expensive. The other issue is parking. If you don't have off street it's a royal pain.

As you said it has Dog Beach by the inlet and other than Main and Brielle Rd beaches it isn't really crowded the majority of the time. You also don't want to rent between Main and Brielle if you're looking for a quiet spot.
I think she is looking for a day trip and a scone. You have parking. Do you bake? 🤔

I forget where his envisioned beach house is...the one he's buying some day when the time is right.

I'm sure it's much nicer and in a much better town than mine.

He sure does like to denigrate things.
Stone Harbor I believe...which has an extreme risk of flooding. No worries I'm sure one day the rest of NJ residents will have to bail the town out after a major storm....damn socialists

My wife and I plan on going down for a long weekend at the end of June to our place in North Wildwood. With the Wineries and Breweries starting to open now we are hoping for a nice relaxing weekend. Not sure about the beach though as that area is mostly people from Phili and, not to get political here, that's Trump country so I'm not sure if they are going to abide by the social distancing wearing masks thing.
Thanks for not getting political.

Only if I don't put on sunscreen.

I am friends with a couple who do drop off muffins and scones once in a while.
Have you been to the Scone Pony in Spring Lake? I have not.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
That’s news to me.

But as you said, there is not anything wrong with it.

IMO I think the immediate other side of the inlet in Avon is nicer.

Back in the day I wasn’t fond of seeing those reviews because usually the next weekend…

Same with their Sunday real estate section article, “If you’re thinking of living in…”

Almost always the same result.

I told you before, God only made Stone Harbor and Montgomery, all other places were the spawn of Satan. I have a friend like that. No matter what he's doing, if you're not doing it or going where he's going, you're missing out on life.

@Mod9a must live down here, I lived in Belmar for 16 yrs. and it was always that way. Used to live down on 8th Ave. right by the Lake where it flooded 4ft. and on my daily run on the boards it always got a little light in the loafers down that way.

Take that South Jersey beaches:WooHoo:

The liquor store on 71.

Did you see it there?
Duh. Sorry, no but they do adveritse that they have it. Someone I know came across it. I asked a bartender friend about it. He said it's slightly similar to Blue Moon.

At $14 or more for a 4 pack I'd don't think I'll be stocking up lol.

Maybe I’ll try it. And if I like it, it can be a special occasion summer beer.

Sam Summer, Beach Bum Blonde by Anheuser Busch for those.

Coor Lite and Michelob Ultra are good enough for everyday. But I rarely drink anymore anyway.

Denigrate things to make himself feel better about his own choices - like driving an extra 2 hours to get eaten by flies on the beach or celebrating a strip mall pass-through of a town like it's the greatest place in the world.
This talk of flesh-eating flies on South Jersey beaches is a new one for me, a resident of a South Jersey beach. Never heard of that one before...

I have seen much more of a Rutgers presence in Atlantic City in the past two years. Not just more apparel, but a billboard here and there, and (I think) a plane dragging a sign over the beach. Also, the local community college now has some type of Rutgers affiliation, so there is a RUTGERS logo on the Black Horse Pike where the campus is. Pretty cool. Ha ha, it used to be that my block R in the door of my defunct water ice shop was the only sign that Rutgers existed...

"state laws legalizing recreational marijuana for adults significantly limited police enforcement power when dealing with underage drinking and pot possession."

Multiple laws and policies under Murphy have handcuffed and demonized law enforcement and will continue to erode quality of life for families.

Is that why NJ ranks #47 in America for violent crime?

Is it why crime is down in Camden while it's up in most cities?

Maybe it's why when protests raged across the country, police and marchers around NJ walked together?

No it must be the millions of dollars NJ has made in less than two months while granting millions more freedom and thousands of others a second chance for being in possession of a plant that's less harmful than alcohol.

Extreme risk???? I don't think the town has lost a single house to flooding since the 60s.

Ps. 90% of flood zones are inland.

Camden also increased spending on police and increased the number of cops.
Is this inland? Maybe no houses lost, but no thanks.

Right. A road flooded. Let me know when a house is damaged. The houses in the video had zero damage. The houses are elevated.

I'm well familiar living in neighborhoods with elevated houses. Moved out of one after one too many high tides made it impossible to reasonably drive home and into our garage without damaging the vehicle. Some people are not bothered by such things, and more power to them. But we have a house on the South end of Belmar 5 lots from the Ocean that had rare "moderate" flooding until Sandy when most of the houses on our street were underwater and/or wiped out. Feel bad for the people who are require to carry flood insurance, which became ridiculously expensive after Sandy. We roll the dice now. If the house(s) on the property get wiped out, we will probably sell the land, which is probably worth more than the houses. Such is the price to pay for living near the beach or "on the water."
