If you plan on doing the first thing, don’t do the second or third beforehand.

And it’s not about having sex, it’s the possible result of creating another person and deciding you don’t want it…just because. There are ways to prevent that as “the great napper” mentioned above.

As for the main topic…I think I have a post in the thread saying I’m pro-alternative energy everything: hydro, wind, solar, nuclear, geothermal.

That being said as the technology gets there. Maybe not cold turkey rightthissecond.
Incrementally

Like a lot of things should be done

Sound plan all around. My retirement home will have a backup genny. Not sure I like the look of the solars but I'd do the research. Personal isn't the problem though. It's the grid and replacing cheap baseline with not-so-cheap not-so-baseline capacity.

Look at the rolling blackouts in CA, TX and most everywhere these days. Nukes or Coal for baseline. Make the choice. Don't say NG because that drives up the cost of heating an cooking for po' folk.

Major tax credits if you meet certain storage requirements kicked in Jan. 1 for backup gennies.

For solar I think. And for batteries, not NG.

But will admit I am not up on all of it.

I feel like people's sexual behavior is essentially the choice of people actually having sex.

75% of the Republican Congressional caucus hasn't had sex in decades, 20% of them are closeted homosexuals and the other 5% are vehemently pro-abortion because they stick their dicks in anything that identifies as Under 18.

I don't like people telling me how to drive my car. I don't like people telling me how to drink my whiskey. I don't like people telling me what to do with my weed. I figure it's not appropriate for me to tell anyone what to do with their vagina / uterus.
Or getting vaxxed

This thread has it all. Tilting at windmills. Sex and abortion. Anti vaxers blaming whale deaths on vaccines. 😵‍💫Thread has almost jumped the shark.

Before Fonzi leaps I need to know what’s up with what @mdk01 was talking about. 🦈🚤⛷️👍

I think your first two sentences are correct.

"Does the battery need to be paired with solar to get the tax credit?

Batteries installed before December 31, 2022, need to be paired with solar panels and charged exclusively with solar power in order to take advantage of the federal tax credit.

Starting in 2023, thanks to the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act, batteries will not need to be paired with solar panels to qualify for the tax credit. This means that both stand-alone battery systems and batteries paired with solar panels will be eligible for the tax credit!"

Plus, natural gas is not considered green, and doubt there would be any tax incentives for a natural gas powered "appliance." Natural gas is the work of the devil. 👿

California and New York looking to ban natural gas in new buildings:

Or getting vaxxed

Nobody forced anyone to get a vaccine.

There were restrictions placed on unvaccinated people by private enterprise - as is the right of those private entities.

The U.S. military enacted a Covid vaccine requirement. The military has had many vaccine requirements, for as long as there have been vaccines.

The sad little anti-vax snowflakes have played this as unprecedented. It's not. When the Rubella vaccine was developed in 1969 they lined us up in school - public school - and rolled up our sleeves.

So yeah, this whole bullshit talk track of yours is just. so. boring. You don't want to get vaccinated? Don't. Nobody is forcing you. But you don't get to complain about your own choice.

telling someone to get vaxxed or lose your job or get kicked out of the military for a lot of people is forcing them. I'm not an anti vaxxer since I work in the industry, but i just find it amusing that the whole my body my choice crowd were the same ones screaming at people to get vaxxed and wanted forced vaccinations.
Comparing the Rubella vaccine process to this is comparing apples and oranges

Hey. Genius.

You want to be in the military, you get vaccinated. Against about 30 different things. You don't want to get vaccinated, you're out. This has literally been true for as long as there's been a U.S. military.

Employment comes with conditions. An employer has a right to set those conditions. You don't like it, go work somewhere else. You have the freedom to do that.

Oh, and YAY! You've trotted out the pathetic Fox News "my body my choice" trope.

Learn the f*cking difference between "my body" and "I have a disease that I can spread to other people without them knowing."

Vaccines reduce spread. Not completely - but somewhat. In a dense public health emergency, that's enough.

Nice job on that last sentence, though. Literally no attempt to support a random statement. Good job. Excellent.

Why are you so angry? And I think its already been proven they don't really do much to reduce the spread. In fact everyone I know thats been sick the last 6 months were boosted.

I'm angry because I'm tired of hearing this stupid, bullshit, "my rights have been trampled" argument from all these people who desperately want to tell everyone how tough and independent they are. It's embarrassing.

Vaccines don't totally reduce spread. They reduce it some. The person you don't transmit Covid to by having gotten vaccinated could well be a person who would have died, had they gotten it.

They don't keep you from getting Covid. They do quite well, however, in preventing people from dying from it.

Society entails a little sacrifice. Liberty entails a little sacrifice. Nut up, Buttercup. It's a shot, it ain't gonna hurt ya.

where did i say my rights have been trampled? Regardless, its a discussion, it shouldn't make you so angry. Maybe take a break from the board so you don't have a heart attack.

Can this thread get back to saving the whales and tilting at windmills?

@e5fdny and @mdk01 - I think that info I found on generators and battery storage is correct.

Just one thing that didn't get emphasis in what you wrote, there is a storage requirement. So a system that merely kicks in using natural gas with no storage wouldn't qualify.

mixed bag of hindsight, falsehoods, and reasonableness.
BTW. The vaccines the military got were not rushed to market in a year where we already know they didn't do what Dr, F said they would do (96% not going to get it..which became ooops. we mean not so bad when you get it). I'm all vaxed up and have had it twice in last 6 months!

And those soldiers would be living together in a camp and prepping to go fight a war. Not head to a restaurant.

Frankly, I'm not even sure what the argument is anymore. I thought we were well past it.

That is such a great point. Sure, any vaccination is a tiny, tiny risk. But they bring tremendous benefit when done universally (ie, goodbye polio). Selfish, less-than-brilliant anti-vaxxers don't acknowledge or even understand that they are benefitting from everybody else getting vaccinated. But they are not doing their share by making the same tiny sacrifice everybody else makes by getting the vaccinations.

I realize that Newell is not an an anti-vaxxer, and is one of the most interesting people on this board...

So I lose. LOL

But my electric bill is just about nonexistent and I got the big tax credit last year.

Also the Generac, while not paying for itself just yet has come in handy for a few power outages around here…no food lost, able to see in the dark, watch TV and keep warm or cool.

Name calling, everybody who has a counter opinion watches Fox News.
You must keep your copy of the play book on your person at all times 😂😂😂

Yeah. Goldman Sacks Murphy cares about the rain forest. Lefties are all scum who use slave labor so they can go online and cancel people. No offense.
Love the title of the article - "Billions" of wind turbine blades. LOL. There are optimistically about 350,000 wind turbines installed world wide......

Article then goes on to say there are several tons of Balsa wood per blade. Lets work that out. If there are 350K turbines, and each has 3 blades, thats about a million blades. so lets just say that there are 4,000 lbs of balsa per blade. So that is about 4B lbs of balsa needed to create all of the blades of all of the existing turbines.

4B lbs sounds like alot. if we assume 10lbs per cubic foot as an average, and take a average size balsa tree, we get get 5K lbs of balsa per tree. That would mean you need 800,000 Balsa trees. Balsa trees can be grown in plantations with a density of 400 trees per acre. This means you would need 2000 acres of plantation or about 3 square miles to grow that many trees, and balsa trees mature in 6-10 years as one of the fastest growing trees.

I know that there are people out there in ecuador willing to do anything to make a buck and are illegally harvesting balsa wood, but the problem is the people, not the need for wood, which is certainly manageable based on the volumes here.

The $250 million plant that will employ 500 union steelworkers at the Paulsboro Marine Terminal on the Delaware River is the largest investment in supply chain manufacturing for the offshore wind industry in the nation. It is topped in cost only by the $400 million New Jersey Wind Port being built 37 miles south at Lower Alloways Creek on Delaware Bay as a manufacturing, assembly and shipping center that will employ 1,500 workers.

Who did your solar installation? And when?

+1. We need to generate as much energy as possible so instead of drill baby drill it'll be build baby build. We all want to become energy independent and this is one way to help.
But is the New Jersey Board of Utilities going to make sure these energy providers make a profit by raising the rates charged to all customers. What percentage increase can I expect?

Anyone who doesn't want to stick their kid with an emergency authorized vaccine for a virus that has virtually zero affect on them is an anti vaxxer. OK.

I know this is anecdotal, but I was reading and watching as many stories as I could about the pediatric trials for the vaccine and I found it interesting that a good number of the identifiable parents of the kids in the trial were medical professionals. Specifically, doctors.

It told me the majority of the medical professionals felt the covid risk was greater than the vaccine risk for their kids and wanted them vaccinated as soon as possible. As such they were willing to put them into a trial
