OT: Major West Coast winter storm where some will see over 150 inches of snow

A lot of us like the day to day of following a storm to fruition no matter if predictions were correct. The more perspectives the better. The annoying trolling from the same people for years is so tiring already. Just stay out of the thread.

DeSal uses huge amounts of electricity to produce sufficient large amounts of water, potable or non potable, as does reverse osmosis.

Since it is almost impossible to get the permitting, find the NIMBY locations, and agree on the technology used to produce electricity, even enough to reduce the number of power brownouts, power failure and need for additional power at this present time in Calif.
BEFORE constructing DeSal plants.......it's good luck and here's a pat on the back.

Yeah, I know about solar cells, but the science/production/availability necessary isn't there yet in the world, much less Calif.

Oh, I finally understand why a nor'easter is called that: because the storm moves northeasterly.. Am I right? I've always wondered about the name.
Actually, that's a misnomer - nor'easter is used to describe the predominant winds out of the northeast at the coast from such storms, which keep the winds mostly over land (colder) and often lead to snow. The fact that the storms usually move NE is a coincidence for the naming (over 100 years ago, nobody knew which way a storm was moving, but they knew which way the winds were blowing in a fierce coastal storm).

So why don't we wait until there is legit info? Hmm. Still racing against Tango to start weather threads? LOL.
I posted legit info - assuming the models don't go south on this one (much less likely than yesterday's event), this storm is going to be a big story by tonight or tomorrow and through the weekend. Prepare for the hype now. And racing Tango? I couldn't give 2 deuces if he started another thread - the only annoying thing is that they usually combine multiple threads, which nobody likes other than the mods, as far as I can tell. Maybe you should listen to the numerous folks who have asked you to not muck these threads up with your trolling - or maybe they'll thread-ban you like they have in other weather threads before.

When the real weather professional on this board is calling you out, you may want to listen. Be patient, relax. Wait for legit info and then post. Not asking for much and you would get a much better response in these threads.

Please post some concrete info on the possible storm when available. Thanks!

SMH. The coldest 3 day stretch of weather we have seen since 2019 is about to begin tomorrow, no questions about it but not a word about it on here. Yet the focus of a complete unknown storm 5-6 days out requires a thread already? And people say there is no bias in what is posted by "weather experts" on this board is laughable.

Since 2019!!! So you went a full winter without getting colder?

Wow, that's, like, a major headline.

Wow, the temps will go down into the teens and maybe single digits in the colder locations - those temps are about 15F above record level. If we get a serious cold wave, it'll warrant a thread, but this is just a cold snap. Starting a thread on this level of cold is like bac starting threads on temps reaching 90F for a few days in a row, which is about 4-5F above normal in the summer.

He may be a weather professional, but on these threads, he's a professional troll, adding zero value and actually detracting from the thread, kind of like you. I wish he would post something of value that we could learn from.

A thread about a 3 day cold spell is needed as much as a 5 day unknown forecast. That's my point. You didn't need one last week. You still don't know about next week.

Besides we already have a thread on this system don't we??

I trust him way more that you. He's the real expert. :)

Like the stock market, the weather is not an exact science nor is it predictable. I for one appreciate #’s posts. Why don’t you folks that have such disdain for these posts just not read or follow them? Life is too short. I can’t understand the derision. I’m not trying to single you out because I like you posts on other topics but don’t understand the hate in the weather posts by many on this board.

Jesus! These guys bitching about these threads is over the top. In the beginning it was good natured ball busting but now it has turned into obsession and stalking by some posters. Get a life and get off these threads. You clowns know who you are.

People defending a 5 day unknown forecast should get off the threads too.

Please. I’m fine observing and letting things play out. Guys like you try to shut down the discussion. People who have to get into work appreciate the info so we can plan ahead.

First it two years since similar event and a bigger headline then this week's storm and so far next week's storm.

Which means there's only been a single full winter out of the past 3 that didn't reach such lows to set a record - 2020. Which is what I said.

The info in these threads is always very helpful. I just think it's odd grown men root for it to snow and root for high snowfall totals.
And just as odd for those who act the other (I’ll let you all interpret that😉) way.

I have had this discussion before about early overstated forecasts by local media. It hurts local business. It hurts my local business. Every time. In the pandemic it's adding to an already devastated restaurant bar industry. The first time I called out the Philly media #s went ape-ship like I was attacking him personally. At least one Philly station has changed their ways but #s hasn't.

Fair enough. I totally get that. But #s posts are mainly confined to here so I never understood the venom against his threads.

No wrong again. 1 full, 2 halfs equals 2 seasons. Again a much bigger story than last week and who knows about this 5/6 forecast. Cold spells and 5 day forecasts aren't news worthy.

Except records and winters don't work like that.

The record was set in Winter 2019, not 2019.5. If your record comes true, Winter 2020 was the only winter without a record of the past three.

Long story short, not much of a "record" worth noting.

Ask him. He felt and feels the need to post the worst possible scenario every single time. Defending Philly news stations when he doesn't live here was strange. BTW that "big" storm was a complete bust. Lots of business closed because of a dusting or rain. My point is what is the rush??? I still don't get it.

Oh god! You really just like to argue. What a clown. Funny you use the word troll for everyone else but you never bring anything to the table. Just bash other posters over and over again.
