Imagine reaching the pinnacle of your profession in the most important city in the world only to see it all go bye bye because you couldn't resist taking photos of your wee wee and sending them to someone.

My first thought on the Porter situation was what kind of due diligence did the Mets do on him before finalizing the hire? Second thought was why did it take until now for this to surface publicly rather than right after he was hired?

According the report, ESPN knew about it in 2017 but didn’t run the report In fear of jeopardizing the woman’s career. In 2021 they run it without fear of jeopardizing Porter’s career. Double standard?

While not excusing what Porter did don’t think should be a fireable offense. If it does lead to his termination shame on ESPN for the way they handled this. (And obviously shame on Porter for being a creep)

ESPN knew about it but kept it under wraps. The woman felt it may hurt her career. Many involved knew it happened.
Disagraceful no one went public until the guy was an actual GM.

I don't know if double standard applies when she did nothing wrong, and this guy is a major league creep, keep in mind before he sent her that dick photo he also texted her 62 straight times without a response from her, that tells me that she is probably not the first woman he's done this too, wait for the other shoe to drop.

This is all on Porter.

Late in the interview process, I am sure that Alderson asked what is now a standard interview question at this level: "Is there anything in your past that we need to know about? If so, we can get out in front of it and manage the narrative. But if a story gets out that blindsides the organization, I will be very unhappy."

I am sure he is very unhappy.

This- it isn't like he had a relationship with this woman or a back and forth online flirting sessions.

The woman was ignoring him and he started to stalk and send the pictures. I would feel bad for the guy if she had been interacting or if there was even the slightest encouragement. Move on quickly

Just heard the Sportscenter report.

This is going to sound terrible but....it doesn't appear to be as bad as the headlines.

He was clearly harassing her with texts and meetup requests and she started ignoring him.
However once he sent the nude pic she asked him to stop and he immediately apologized and stopped texting her.

That last part was in the on TV report and not the article above.
Sending nude pictures, plural, isn't as bad as the headlines?? Your right it's worse! Reading the details is disturbing.

I never understood sending the dick picture, I think that's a behavior issue and not something that is done because it actually works, when you send a woman you've never even date a picture like that, you're pretty signaling to her you think she's a whore, I would imagine 99% of women would be repulsed by this.

Yeah I just read the ESPN recap as well as an article in the Post in which Joel Sherman is advocating that he needs to be terminated and compares the severity of the issue to the Beltran situation.

ESPN certainly has a lot of detail and while some of the woman's earlier responses may have been sending signals of interest, it is impossible to justify where Porter went with this. I would think he is toast.

I think the Mets might get a little cover on their due diligence given the length of time since the incident occurred and that he had gotten the D-back position subsequent to these actions. At the end of the day if they asked if there was anything else they needed to know and the answer was no then Porter took a risk and should now pay the price.

If ESPN had reported it in 2017 maybe he wouldn’t have done it to more people.
Again, not defending him. He’s been fired. Ok.

But if what he did was so bad it would cost him his job 5 years later, shame on Espn and all those who knew about this keeping it hush

Agreed on ESPN, but I don't know if I would classify it as being a double standard. That's all.

Porter should be fired for being stupid and horny and putting that woman through a career changing situation. ESPN are scumbags for holding this for 5 years. Should've reported it right then and there. Since when they cared about consequences? Maybe that woman would still be in the business.
