Clay Holmes is 5. Griffin Canning, Blackburn, Megill depth or pen long men.1. Senga
2. Sean M.
3. Frankie M.
4. David P.
5, place holder until Sprout comes mid season?
I like it. Would like it more with the Japanese pitcher
I'm thinking Pete is announced soon. They seem to be very high on Holmes coming in as a starter. His big problem seems to always be putting men on base. And I fear that this is the one thing our Pitching Coach has not been good at...But maybe as a starter- Holmes will not be in a stress situation on every single pitch and this helps him out.Clay Holmes is 5. Still need a bat and a good pen arm but coming together.
I think Holmes can work out as a starter as he wasn't a straight fireballer as a closer and was a groundball pitcher. That should translate well if he adjusts to being stretched out to 100 pitches a game.I'm thinking Pete is announced soon. They seem to be very high on Holmes coming in as a starter. I saw that Arenado turned down a trade earlier this week and he already mentioned the Met's as a club he would accept a trade to. I wonder if we sign Pete, if that could excite him enough to push for us and we can do something like move McNeil or Marte and have the Cards eat some of his contract.
Walker Buehler signed a one year deal for $21.05 million. Did the Mets really kick the tires? I would have given Buehler a second year. I trust him more than Clay Holmes. I prefer Manaea, Senga, Buehler, Peterson, and full in the blank for the fifth spotClay Holmes is 5. Griffin Canning, Blackburn, Megill depth or pen long men.

May be less about hoping for Montas to have a comeback and more about giving him the extra day’s rest that he seemingly needs to be effective. The splits are so glaring and pronounced - over a lengthy sample size - they’re hard to ignore.Manaea is a very solid signing…now we hope Montas has a Seve like comeback.
If there is a way we can bring in the Japanese kid over the Dodgers and have Pete back- we would be in very good shape.
If they do sign Bregman as well- it opens up trading McNeil or Marte too.
But even if we just get Pete back now, I am satisfied.
In theory yes Holmes is 5. Just won’t believe it till I see itClay Holmes is 5. Griffin Canning, Blackburn, Megill depth or pen long men.

uh you forgot the bullpenAt this point, is there much of a market for Pete? I'm hoping the Mets can get him back without overspending. Not that our owner seems to care, but you can't get into a bidding war for Pete.
Agree if you add Pete and another starter, the Mets are set for spring training.
Did not forget Holmes read all my posts. I will believe it when I see it. I may be wrong but I have little faith in itYou forgot Holmes

Worst case- he ends up a big part of the BP...he did pretty well with the Yanks after moving from the closer role.Did not forget Holmes read all my posts. I will believe it when I see it. I may be wrong but I have little faith in it
Be Boras' best friend and sign Alonso, Bregman and BurnesAt this point, is there much of a market for Pete? I'm hoping the Mets can get him back without overspending. Not that our owner seems to care, but you can't get into a bidding war for Pete.

since coming back from injury- he has been really bad - BuehlerWalker Buehler signed a one year deal for $21.05 million. Did the Mets really kick the tires? I would have given Buehler a second year. Agree `100%I think Holmes can work out as a starter as he wasn't a straight fireballer as a closer and was a groundball pitcher. That should translate well if he adjusts to being stretched out to 100 pitches a game.
The Mets re-signing Alonso is the biggest no brainer left in the offseason. If they don't, the Soto acquisition is offset by the loss of Pete. If you're going to throw that much money into Soto, you need to treat every year as a win now situation.
Even if Pete is just signed for 3-5 years...that gives us a win now core that will be solid. Nimmo locked, Soto locked, Lindor locked, Pete locked, Vientos under control, Alvarez under control, McNeil(if we keep him and he picks it up) locked. And some young kids that really showed progress.Agree `100%
Actually, at this point I think EVERYONE believes Pete is staying. The market for his services simply never materialized. I am as surprised as anyone.Anyone think Pete is staying? His market is dwindling, so his value is too, but Boras needs to save face
Nobody wants Fat Pete. Looks like he will get a 1-year prove it contract unless the Mets feel bad for him. Many of Boras' clients last year had to do this.Actually, at this point I think EVERYONE believes Pete is staying. The market for his services simply never materialized. I am as surprised as anyone.
That said, don't expect anything to be done soon. We know Boras' modus operandi. If he isn't seeing an offer he likes, he will wait until well into February, hoping a competitive bidder emerges. It only takes one.
I want Pete back but on our terms. Three years max. 26.5 a year. I’d be open to a player opt out after a year.Nobody wants Fat Pete. Looks like he will get a 1-year prove it contract unless the Mets feel bad for him. Many of Boras' clients last year had to do this.
Unless an unexpected suitor emerges, I think you nailed it.I want Pete back but on our terms. Three years max. 26.5 a year. I’d be open to a player opt out after a year.
Let me add…I ain’t waiting until February. He signs soon or he goes somewhere. I’m not having the thing we had with Martinez last year.Unless an unexpected suitor emerges, I think you nailed it.
LOL!
what is your purpose of posting here? And you sound brilliant that no one wants a 35-50 HR 100+ rbi guy on their team. It is only about terms...Boras is obviously holding out for more as he most likely told Pete not to sign the deal offered last year. And this is where Boras is starting to not age well for his clients. Last year, he had a number of guys have to sign for less then what they had turned down previously.Nobody wants Fat Pete. Same purpose of you posting in the Yanks thread. Don't be a hypocrite.what is your purpose of posting here? And you sound brilliant that no one wants a 35-50 HR 100+ rbi guy on their team. Regardless, what is your purpose?
Do you read my posts over there- i have been very positive and just having discussion- even WB has stopped saying I am a troll. You, are 100% trolling. If you do not see the difference, then it shows that not only are you a troll, but a really dumb one at that. You are not having baseball discussions with us- you are going with Fat Pete and every move we make is a disaster.Same purpose of you posting in the Yanks thread. Don't be a hypocrite.
