McCant swings at a ball a little leaguer would lay off of. This team cannot hit for power or simply make contact. They need to shake things up. Cohen should channel his inner Steinbrenner and fire the 2nd hitting coach. Maybe three is a charm but they have to do something to wake this thing up. At this rate we will be out of 1st place by the AS game.
I was going to say that but thought the crowd on here would tar and feather me. I think the second hitting coach is worst than the first.

Even if the Mets won’t be in first place by the weekend, I have to admit that this video of all of the Mets injuries and moves this year was great.

Side TV side note
Giannis Attteenmuopkpppoo might have torn his knee or at least hyperextended it backwards. Looked ugly

Let’s go Lugo !!!!!

Having Almora pinch-hit is criminal. Rojas should be fired for that reason. Almora is batting .077. WHAT THE *UCK?

Anyone want to bet Almora is in the lineup tomorrow because the Braves are starting a lefty? I rather take my chances with anyone else besides .077 Almora.

In just one page, we’ve told professionals that an open stance cannot work, fired the new hitting coach, and fired the manager. And we won. Stop with all this and thoughtful analysis and try to be more reactionary.

It's the beauty of being a diehard who lives and dies with every situation. 😁

Only way I stop is when we take the home plate umps out of the equation. By the way they suck for both the Mets and their opponents. This year is the worst I have ever seen
wasn't talking about you-the home plate umpire was not good tonight.

It's the same 2 or 3 posters every single freaking game, criticizing and bitching about every single freaking pitch, swing, miss, strikeout, every move by the manager. This threads sucks. Newsflash- Mets are STILL In first place. Give it a freaking rest with the constant bitching--this is a season thread, not a nonstop bitch fest about every aspect of every game.

This guy can't hit, this guy is over paid, this guy can't pitch, this guy knows where the dead bodies are, and THIS GUY is just happy after all the injuries and under preforming, the Mets are still in 1st place with 11 days until The All Star Break. Who wouldn't have signed for that?

It’s the same reason I don’t post in our football game threads.
mans we have had a lot of gutsy wins but…this offense shouldn’t be this bad.
what is killing most fans is that our pitching is at a level that we should have a record much better and it should be a 86 type walkthrough of the year. But we have to worry every time the other team scores first.
Myself, it does drive me crazy but…at some point, we will get the offense going so I will take these gutsy wins for now and enjoy first place as it has been too long since we have been there for this long.

I think the umps are better than they’ve ever been at calling balls and strikes. The reason that there is so much more moaning online is the growing presence of the strike zone box on TV. It’s catnip for fans who like to moan about umps.

But the box has also forced umps to get better. I guarantee that they watch the replays every night, get graded by the league, and try to get better. Whether they like the box or not, it’s made them better. The days of Eric Gregg calling strikes on curveballs 18 inches off the plate are over.

Now, being better at calling strikes probably won’t be good enough. So electronically called strikes may be coming. And, when that happens, I can absolutely guarantee one thing: the same people will be complaining about deficiencies with the electronic system. I can already hear it. The machine doesn’t properly judge knee height. How do they set that for each batter anyway? It doesn’t properly account for the depth of the plate. It’s inconsistent calling chest high strikes. Blah, blah, blah..

I'm curious- I have not been able to watch the games but can only follow through my apps and get some streaming. So, I have not been able to see the calls first hand other than see a ball way off the box on my screen and see it was called a strike and the reverse on some that are called balls that appear to be in the strike zone box.
With that- for the 50 years I have been watching baseball- there has never been a consistent or perfect strike zone and it always varies with who is behind the plate. And every year- there are 3-4 umps that you know will be very inconsistent during games and there were 1 or 2 that you knew what they call and they are very consistent. But those guys stood out above everyone else.
Has it been different this year? or is it pretty much the same as always? And if just worst, why? Are umps getting lazy now that replay has come into play? Are they just not paid enough and you don't have good talent in the umpire ranks to choose from?

I think a large part of it is there are newer umps. We are not seeing the seasoned vets back there. Last night Adam Beck was behind the plate. He made his debut this past August. Lets just say he left allot to be desired
