Because if you’re making a playoff run and can’t give up prospects - what other choices do you have to bring back an impact position player or SP?Why would you trade McNeil if he is under control and not getting a Cespedes type player back?

My point is that you have almost as good of a chance that McNeil gives you an impact as anyone you may trade for. He is a career 315 hitter with some pop.Because if you’re making a playoff run and can’t give up prospects - what other choices do you have to bring back an impact position player or SP?
Not until he gets back off injury. Regardless, I don’t see the Mets moving any of their guys like McNeil, Davis, Smith when all 3 are at their lowest value.I doubt that Davis has much market value.
I was wrong on Nimmo. Plan is to give him Monday off (having played nine innings two games in a row) and activate him Tuesday in Atlanta.Nimmo played nine innings tonight at Syracuse. Figure he meets the team in DC on Monday.
Lol. Jeff McNeil is not gonna get you a Cespedes type. Why would you trade McNeil if he is under control and not getting a Cespedes type player back?
Not sure if you're serious. They are 4 games up. One sweep by one of your chasers and it's back to a toss-up. Now they had a chance to run away with it when they got to ten games over .500, but in the last 2 weeks they have been mediocre and have thus come back to the pack.. Under .500 for that stretch.Metsies are the only team in the East over .500. Who is going to make a run at them?
I almost laughed when I went on the Mets.com site last week and saw the last minute plea for Mets fans to vote guys on the team as All-Stars. Thankfully fans in the area are very savvy cause none were deserving.Mets have no position players listed as All Star finalists. For that matter they had no one even in the conversation. Partly due to injuries, partly due to underperformance. Either way, it has to change.
When he does return hopefully he can help by getting McNeil out of the leadoff spot alone.I was wrong on Nimmo. Plan is to give him Monday off (having played nine innings two games in a row) and activate him Tuesday in Atlanta.
No hitter? [roll]Washington is starting someone named Paolo Espino. 34 years old with only 31 career appearances with 5 starts, two of which have come this season. Career ERA of 4.01 in those 31 appearances. Drafted in 2006 so obviously has been pretty much a career minor leaguer. Anybody else want to be the one to say it?
Explains everything.Ron just said it
2-0 to Pete chases slider off the plate
McKinney 2-1 stares at fastball down the middle
Lost in all the whining about hitting, schedules up to All Star Break:Don't know who is pitching for Washington tonight but know it won't be Scherzer, Lester or Corbin who all pitched over the weekend. Will it matter? Hope we can score some runs off whoever it is.
Anyway a look at the week ahead for our pursuers.
After tonight Washington then hosts Tampa Bay for 3 and the Dodgers for 3 over the weekend
The Braves of course host us for 3 starting tomorrow and then host Miami over the weekend
The Philthies have a makeup at Cinncy tonight and then host Miami for 3 games and San Diego for 3 starting Friday.
As for us; decent chance we might have to play another DH vs, Atlanta as there is a lot of rain in the forecast for this week.
The problem with treading water is that you have three teams chasing you. Figure one of them will get hot. Mets will need to get hot to hold them off.Lost in all the whining about hitting, schedules up to All Star Break:
Washington Schedule: -BRUTAL- Tampa Bay 2; Dodgers 4; San Diego 4; San Francisco 3
Phillies Schedule: - TOUGH- Miami 3; San Diego 3; Chicago 4; Boston 3
Braves Schedule: Mets 3; Miami 3; Pittsburgh 3; Miami 3
Mets Schedule: Braves 3; Yankees 3; Milwaukee 3; Pittsburgh 4
Braves may have the easiest schedule, Mets second easiest. That said, Braves have done poorly against Miami, and Mets and Marlins have the best records against NL East teams
Take 2 of 3 against the Braves, and hope Washington and Phillies falter, and Mets hitting can continue to suck! Not the recipe for success, but perhaps Mets can tread water and maintain a 5-7 game lead at All Star Break, and with Nimmo back, perhaps hitting will pick up.
That's why the head to head games are so important. Every one is basically like a 2 game swing. The problem with treading water is that you have three teams chasing you. Figure one of them will get hot. Mets will need to get hot to hold them off.
