Have these 3 last games been unreal? What comebacks though Id like to forget Saturday

Few observations:

- Lugo and / or May need to be elevated to stopper. Diaz is back to his mental midget status

- What resiliency!

- No more Luis Guillome at SS. Play Villar or Peraza

- Great to see Conforto hitting again!

- MCNeil is locked in

- Coincidence or Not: Mets have scored mucho runs in past 3 games without Lindor. Defense has suffered however

- Bad decision pitching to Winker. Reds also made stupid decision pitching to McNeil.

I’m drained !

Great wins past 2 games.

100% disagree with the Lindor comment. He is a much better offensive threat than anyone replacing him. The coincidence is that Davis and Nimmo are in the lineup. Agree with everything else

This team has character and you can tell has fun playing the game. It has a nice mix of young talent, and the veterans Sandy picked up have been amazing.

O.K.
Fair enough.
But I just have a hard time not responding to the nonsense from the reactionaries.
I'll try harder.
BTW, Mets= 48 wins.....Yankees=48 wins.
Nice to see the Vegas pick to win the AL and Yankees fanbase overwhelming, has fallen to the point of using THE METS as their measuring stick. Got to love it.😍

Pretty much everyone had the Yanks at 97+ wins and penciled in as one of the top 3 teams in baseball. Met’s are actually on pace for about as many wins as predicted and they have done it with a AAA team.

Something I did not know. I do remember this show! A bunch of old guys (they seemed REAL old at the time) sitting around vintage typewriters smoking cigars. Those were the days. Not saying they were GOOD days, just saying they were the days.

This has been a tale of two seasons. First half, the offense was decimated and the pitching and defense picked it up. Now the starting pitching is decimated. Can the offense pick it up.

I posted earlier that the Mets have seven potential starting pitchers who are injured. I undercounted. I left out injured guys in Syracuse who might otherwise be getting a shot. That gets us up to 12. TWELVE!!! To recap:

Jacob deGrom
Noah Syndergaard
Carlos Carrasco
David Peterson
Joey Lucchesi
Jordan Yamamoto
Robert Gsellman
Corey Oswalt
Sean Reid-Phillips
Thomas Szapucki
Franklyn Kilome
Harol Gonzalez

That doesn't even include guys in the lower minors such as top prospect Matt Allan.

No organization can withstand a hit like this for long. Forget Kris Bryant. Get a couple of arms.

A win is a win. Winners celebrate. Complainers always find something to complain about.
Great comeback win! That was one of those wins that may help them down the road. They easily could’ve said F***IT like many of us always did.

Let’s hope that Stock pulls a rabbit out of his arse tonight since the bullpen have been working OT last few games. And that had to be Guillome’s worst night ever. He’s not that bad on the field.

THIS!!!!!
If this was the Yankees, Dodgers, Cubs, Cardinals, Slam Diego, or the Ohtanis, National media (ESPN, Dan Patrick, etc) would’ve been sl**ping all over them on this is a Disney type season with them winning despite everything going against them. There would manager of the year talk on how this guy have pushed all the right buttons instead of people saying he sucked. MLB.com would be posting 10 pics/stories a night on social media, etc etc etc.

But hey, what do I know lol???

Lugo sucks now also. ERA for lugo is close to 5.
Yeah he hasn't exactly been Mr. Reliable in spite of the plug above. Remember he came in last night with just a guy on first and quickly proceeded to walk the go-ahead run into scoring position on 4 pitches before getting beat by Winker also. Like I said over the weekend Loup has been the only consistently reliable guy out of the pen.

Last night was well...interesting to say the least. I think we are seeing the decay in the bullpen due to all the overuse they have been experiencing all season. We are not getting 7 solid innings from even Stroman or Walker so the pen is taxed. As Doc pointed out above, you cannot expect much from guys who were penciled in as your 10th starter. The Mets did a good job acquiring staring pitching depth, you just cannot account for all these injuries in a normal season.
Although I am not a Beard fan, I will give him a pass as he has been a good defender throughout his career. I know they want to save Peraza for late innings but he really should be starting at short. The Beard is better at 2b or 3b.
I still believe the Mets should try to pry Hendricks and Kimbral from Chicago. Bryant is less of a necessity as long as the bats continue to erupt. I still believe if what I am reading and hearing about the Cubs is true financially, we could probably get both pretty cheaply if we take back Heyward in the deal. I know its like 23million per for two more years and I know we have have Cano but those two arms could solidify the division for us and make us dangerous in a playoff series. The Phils and Braves are also both after Kimbral and keeping him away from them would be a coup.

Diaz has issues he has to work through. Lugo isn't far behind him. As of right now, you have to go with May until...

Guillorme is as sure hand as you get. He had an awful game. 99% of the time, he makes those plays look routine. Villar and Peraza are nowhere near the defensive player Guillorme is, and Guillorme has been more consistent offensively. People fall in love with Villar and Peraza because they hit with power, but in most cases, they are struggling to stay above .200.

Glad to see Conforto hitting again, but the damage for a big payday has taken a hit.

I don't think the offense took off because Lindor went down. Lindor was starting to hit too. IMO, the players expected to be the opening day lineup finally are healthy and starting to hit simultaneously.

The Mets have to get more length out of the starters because the bullpen is overworked. Right now, the starters are last in the number of innings pitched. They average less than 6 (5 1/3) innings per start. The bullpen should not average close to 4 innings per game. The staff has to get healthy.

Who do you give up to get Hendricks and Kimbrel?

Maurico and some other prospects just not Baty, Allan or Alvarez. You are doing the Cubs a favor by taking back what is essentially dead money and freeing them up to use it to resign Baez, Rizzo or Bryant.
The money could also work since Hendricks is signed for 3 more years at a reasonable $14.5 million per year. Stroman will want similar or more money than that so you let him walk. If you let Conforto walk you use the money he would be getting to pay Heyward for 2 years. Someone else pointed out Kimbral is about to see his option for next year vest so he has control for 1 more year as well.

One more thing about these last two games, I am seeing plays on defense that I have not seen since little league. The three run bunt is classic.

Agree that those are the three untouchables, Rocker being the fourth. I would be OK with including either Mauricio or Vientos in a package, but not both.

Mets are obviously training their players to swat balls as far out of play as possible to maximize the number of runs scoring on the play.

Don't forget all the excuses the Varsity would be making, oh snap, they already have.

The Diaz thing is royally bumming me out. I had hoped with the trumpets he had officially turned the corner, but now he's just reverted to his 2019 torture. We're not winning anything with an abysmal closer, so that needs to get fixed.

Saw a rumor of Mauricio, Megill, and Palmer for Berrios. I know it’s just a rumor but that’s crazy. I have no problem trading Mauricio but Megill looks like he may be better than Berrios already and Berrios is a 28 year old rental. Cannot include Megill in a trade like this.

Big night ahead for Carlos Carrasco. Starting for Syracuse at Trenton tonight. If it goes well he could makes his season debut this weekend. Honestly I didn't know much about him as I don't watch much in the way of baseball unless the Mets are involved. Same goes with Lindor. So I went searching for some video on him and when on he has wicked breaking stuff and a changeup.

I saw that earlier and had the same thought. Megill is a non-starter for me.

Question for the board.
Dom is the best lefty on the team when facing lefties, correct? Why is he sitting just as he is starting to hit more consistently since the beginning of the month? I understand Pillar has earned PT, but the current outfield of Smith, Nimmo, and Conforto is starting to catch fire. For once, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
