Saw something on SNY that the Mets were scouting the D-Backs pretty heavily. If true, I will speculate and suggest they are looking at Baumgarter and Soria as pitchers and either Escobar or our old friend Astrubal Cabrera as infield help.

Think it's tough being a New York Met fan? Try being a Syracuse Met fan.

The Syracuse Mets are a bad team (23-43), with no top MLB prospects (Khalil Lee is the highest rated at #8), that can't pitch. Their team ERA is 6.13. An ERA of dinnertime is no bueno. They have used 38 pitchers in 66 games! That is almost incomprensible.

How do guys like Eickhoff (5.09 ERA at Syracuse), Banda (5.23), and Nogosek (5.76) get promoted? Because by Syracuse Met standards, their performances are above average.

The workhorse of the Syracuse staff is a journeyman named Jesus Reyes. He leads the staff in starts and innings pitched. He is rocking an 0-8 with a 6.75. Yet he gets the ball every fifth day, because somebody's got to.

Offensively, Syracuse is not bad now that they have their players back.

Correct on 3 of 4. Mets looking at Soria; Escobar and Cabrera. Not looking at Bumgarner. Rather they’re looking at Merrill Kelly. Thanks.

We're gonna miss Peraza. But let's take this one this afternoon and then head back to NY for a big homestand. Not only because it's highlighted by 4 big games vs the Braves but also because there will be some new additions to the team over the next 10 days. I'm sure of it. I wonder if we see our old pal Steven Matz in the Toronto series? Update: Just checked. Yep Matz is scheduled to pitch on Saturday. Tijuan Walker for our side. An ex-Met vs an ex-Bluejay.
Wow. I ll be at Saturday’s game. Will be nice to see Matz though I hope he gets shelled. Lol

HALLELUJAH!

A batter hit a pop up to the pitcher, and the pitcher caught it! He did not follow the job description, which is to point upward and run out of the way, leaving for another player to make a more difficult play.

When did they change the rules to allow that? I must have missed it.

You're allowed only if you're a gold glove caliber fielder.

7-0 in 8th
No on 1 out
Pitching change ???

two warm up pitches
Relief appearance sponsored by ??????
Split screen commercial while walking out to mound. Keep game moving

And you wonder why the bullpen is overwork. Is it against the rules to have a complete game?
I'm not gonna criticize him too much. Just the way they game is managed today across the board. If Stro is okay with it I'm okay with it. With a day off tomorrow I'm fine with Familia merely mopping up. It'll be all hands on deck for the home-run happy Bluejays. Plus they say sinker-ballers thrive on more work.

I just want to see a complete game for once. It happens so little in today's game. When you have a chance to see one, you get excited. My reason for not wanting the Mets to go to the bullpen is to give that group as much rest possible. The starters are last in innings pitched per game at 5 1/3. It's time for the starters to give at 6 or more innings every outing. The bullpen shouldn't have to get ready until the 7th inning.

Oh trust me I feel you on that. There's almost something special about it these days. Especially in this case with what was a potential 1 hit shutout. I'm sure that someone in the press corp will ask Marcus if he wanted to go back out there for the 9th so I will just look for a quote from him.

I love this team. I mean, I've always loved this team, but I love THIS team.

You know how they do that WWE belt thing? You would think that for position players, Dom Smith would have gotten it today. But he didn't. Luis Guillorme did. And Dom gave it to him. Why? Because of the way Luis bounced back from a miserable performance two days earlier.

That is what teammates do.

So multiple teams put in claims for McKinney. If only one did, that team would have had no need to trade for him. They would just get him.

Obviously, a guy you've DFA'd isn't bringing much back. I found a scouting report on Rincon. He's basically a masher who strikes out way too much and won't hit for average. But since striking out way too much is no longer a thing, maybe we'll hear from him again. Hey, you never know.
