Pods-Braves in a long rain delay in 5th inning of game 2. Been raining like a mofo in the area where their stadium is located,, which is about 10 miles North of where I live. But I get home and it's bone dry down here. But they will wait until midnight if they need to. Braves are losing and if that holds they get swept. So no way they'll call it even though it's an official game.

The Braves have no say in calling the game. Up to the umpires. Plus, it isn't an official game yet. Since the home team is losing, they must COMPLETE five innings.

Oh okay. Thanks. In that case the Braves want it called. Lol. But I also don't see that happening with the Padres also being a west coast team.

You lost me. It was a 7 inning game. So the Braves have 3 turns at bat left.
Sorry, my bad. Forgot it was a 7 inning game. I didn't realize that a 7 inning game still had to go 4 1/2 to be official. I guess I had never thought about it one way or the other.

Line on Vance Worley tonight for Syracuse: 98 pitches, 5 innings, 3 runs but only 1 earned, 4 hits, 4 walks, 3 wild pitches.

Why is this significant? Because he is now in line to start on Monday - a day when the Mets need TWO starters. (It's Stroman's turn, but the plan for now is to save Stroman for the nine inning game on Tuesday.) So we may see Worley on Monday.

Mets also need a starter on Sunday, which could be Carrasco out of necessity, even though it sure looks like he could benefit from another rehab start.

Any word on how long Lindor is out for and the status of McNeil as I heard he stepped on 1st base awkwardly? Thanks

Are both starters for Monday TBD?

Rojas said after the game that McNeil is not injured, he was removed from the game due to "fatigue". Yeah no, I'm not buying that either. We shall see.

Re Lindor, this is from Mets website which has a page for roster and injury updates:

SS Francisco Lindor (right oblique strain)
Expected return:
TBD
Lindor left the game July 16 against the Pirates after injuring himself during an at-bat. Tests revealed that Lindor has a Grade 2 right oblique strain. There isn’t a current timetable for the Gold Glove shortstop’s return. Lindor is being evaluated on a week to week basis, both he and manager Luis Rojas said. (Last updated: July 17)

A-yup. You may see something listing Stroman for Monday, but I read he's pushed back to Tuesday's nine inning game.

The homestand rotation (I think):

Friday - Megill
Saturday - Walker
Sunday - TBD
Monday - TBD and TBD
Tuesday - Stroman
Wednesday - Megill
Thursday - Walker
Friday - TBD
Saturday - TBD
Sunday - Stroman

That's five TBD's out of eleven. No bueno.

If/when deGrom is ready, I suspect they'll slot him in and move everything else around as needed.

Braves travel to Philadelphia for a 4 game series starting tomorrow. Not sure who I should root for but since the Phils are closer in the standings I guess it's best for us to that I root for the Braves to win like 3 out of 4 while we sweep Toronto. 🙂 But in the process they really tax their bullpen in advance of Monday.

I would also expect at least one of those TBDs to be Carrasco. Just a question of against which of Toronto, Atlanta or Cinncinatti depending on whether they give him another rehab outing.

Hopefully a TBD is a pitcher or pitchers to be picked up in trades shortly.

Its amazing to think how good our pitching has been this season despite all the injuries. Mets have only allowed 352 runs, second only to the Giants in baseball at 344. On the other hand, despite the bats coming alive recently, the Mets have only scored 367 runs, second only to those Pittsburgh Pirates, who seemed to be able to score only against us. The last place Marlins have scored more runs than the Mets.

I really hated giving up McKinney. Good defender with some speed and some lefty pop off the bench.
This was stupid. He actually played well under the circumstances but yet Almora is still on the 40.

BTW, Didnt mention this earlier but Stroman stepped up big yesterday and they needed him the most. Hope this revival continues in the 2nd half of the season.

Stro has pitched well all season outside a couple of exceptions. His ERA reflects that. The only reason his W-L record doesn't has been due to lack of run support.
Stroman has earned every $ we are paying him this year. To me, he jumped way ahead of Thor in “need to sign”
Though, we should be able to sign Noah now at a very Team friendly contract.

I've got his HR blasts to right penned in for October.
I'll sign up for that right now. Especially since the only way McKinney will be on the Dodgers active roster in October is if somebody better than him is injured.

Almora (who had options) was already in the minors when McKinney (who did not) was DFA'd.

When Davis was activated, the Mets needed a roster spot. It came down to McKinney or Peraza, who still had options. For that reason, most of us assumed that Peraza would be sent down. But they chose to let McKinney go instead.

The baseball gods can be cruel sometimes. The very next day, Lindor got hurt and went on IL, freeing up a roster spot. Had that happened one day earlier, McKinney would no doubt still be a Met.

Check out 'Postseason-Batting'. I'm guessing I had him on my postseason team in 2017, 2018, and 2020. Fool me thrice...
It said fantasy baseball seasons. Why not just say he sucks in the post season.
