I wish Conforto could hit again, but wow has he turned himself into a fantastic defender. One of the best throws you’ll see.

Megill is the pitching version of Jeff McNeil when Jeff was brought up.

Fan favorites...gritty guys to root for with nothing coming easy for them.

#keepmegill...he's my man!
Excellent parallel. Megill was an eighth round draft pick who was never considered a top prospect. Only the #21 ranked Mets prospect going into this season. If that's accurate, and the Mets do have 20 better, then this team is stocked for years to come. I doubt it though.

The rationale for trading him (which I don't advocate) is that he's over performing and the league will eventually figure him out. The time to trade him is now. His value will never be higher.

I guess we'll see soon enough.

In all seriousness, I really hope the Mets don't go down the road of raping their farm system for a quick fix or rental. We've seen how that turns into a endless cycle more times than not.LFGM

JD has never seen a curve from a LHP?
Has looked horrible 1-13 and especially the last 2 games on looping curves

So the 2 left-handed batters get on base vs the LHP and all 3 right-handed batters strike out. Little wonder why we've been struggling so much vs. LHP. Blew a chance to jump on them early. Only good thing I guess is that the Braves pitcher had a 31 pitch 1st inning. Hopefully the others took note and will continue to try to up his pitch count early.

Definitely not feeling J.D. Davis right now.

It’s not a different curve that drops on the outside corner and you tip your cap

its the SAME loopy curve that lands at your back foot that you keep swinging over off balanced like you’ve never seen a curve in your career

Trade Dom Smith!!!!!!!

Anyway, can’t blame him for getting thrown out at second. That was the perfect bounce off the wall for the right fielder to pounce on and throw him out.

Freaking Austin Riley would be Babe Ruth is he played the Mets every day. WTF????

Sure would be nice to somehow hold them to 0 1 more runs while we score 3 4 more, but my breath I shall not hold

Rizzo and Bryant not in Cubs lineup today amidst trade speculation. Hopefully the latter to the Mets so we won't have to see so much of Davis and Conforto. They just killed any any chance of scoring more today.

Remember the bulk of those NL West wins have come against Arizona and Colorado. 10 of them I believe. We haven't played LA or San Fran yet.

If the Mets are just getting by against subpar teams, what the hell will happen when they face the Giants and Dodgers 13 straight games?

As depressing as this game and series were, there is still a good feeling about this team. No Lindor, No DeGrom, Dom underperforming, Conforto way underperforming and McCann a double play machine and we are still in first place having lost very little ground in the division.
We still have two full months to go and we will be getting some reinforcements back in Carrasco, Jake and Thor. The right trade could also energize this team just like it did in 2015. 2-3 in a series where we started two TBA's is not a terrible result.
