If this doesn’t prove that Alderson and the rest of the front office should be fired, nothing will.
Alderson should not, need not, and will not be fired.

He should be "kicked upstairs" and relegated to do the job he was hired to do - basically the CEO role with little day-to-day baseball input.

The original plan was that Alderson would hire an experienced VP of Baseball Operations, or some such title. That person, with limited input from Alderson, would then hire a GM. The two of them would then run the team.

NEITHER OF THOSE THINGS HAPPENED.

The VP of Baseball Operations was not hired because... it was too hard? A GM was hired, but was dismissed for being a sexual scoundrel. We were left with an assistant who is in over his head.

And therein lies the root of the problem.

BTW, it is useful to consider why Alderson is here in the first place. He was not hired for his baseball acumen. He was hired for his reputation. Cohen brought him on prior to the sale being approved. Cohen realized that the other owners might be leery of this outsider with a shaky reputation who was far richer than they. But if Alderson was on board with Cohen, then Cohen is probably OK.

Ironically one of Alderson's functions was to act as a buffer against concerns about a toxic work environment in Cohen's world. The same charges later came up in Alderson's world.

Who made the call to trade for Baez instead of adressing what the Mets needed at the deadline? And no, Rich Hill does not count.

Who messed up on scouting for the first draft pick, that they eventually wind up drafting a pitcher which every other team ahead of them knew that he was hurt?

If it was Scott by himself, he should be fired.
If Scott had Anderson’s blessing in those moves, he should be fired as well. Like you said, Scott may be over his head, Alderson either should’ve known better or he still going by his Oakland A’s/ Fred Wilson ways that probably cost the Mets a better pitcher or maybe Bryant at the deadline.

I don't agree that the acting GM is "the root of the problem." Porter, not acting GM Scott, was in place when many of the offseason moves were made, including Lindor. I agree, though, that Scott doesn't get the full time gig, particularly given the draft. But the root of the problem is the organizational mess created by BVW and the Wilpons, and it wasn't fixable in a year. Even a strong new management couldn't fix that in one year. You can argue, though, that the Mets may have lost a year. After the season, I expect the Mets to try once again to fill the VP & GM roles below Alderson. If they put a top front office in place, the rest will ultimately follow--that is, assembling a better collection of players in the minors and eventually majors. When you have that, all the huffing and puffing about managers, hitting coaches, pitching coaches, trainers, batting stances, pitch selection, every possible line-up, Loup sucks, Loup is good, Almora, this team is special, this team is broken will all go away. I mean, other than on this board. If new management is not good, well you know how that goes.

I see the douche bags are out in full force.
It's the nature of fandom. Have a friend who lives in Atlanta. We text back and forth during college football season and rarely about baseball. Hadn't heard from him in weeks. He texted me to point out that the Mets are now in 3rd place.

Jose Martinez sighting! Began a rehab assignment in St. Lucie yesterday. Played three innings. Saying that we really need Jose Martinez is an admission of something or other, but we really need Jose Martinez. He used to be able to hit. Maybe he can again.

Proud to say I have never posted in those two other teams' thread once. Not even when we had a 4-5 game lead. Some people just can't help themselves from being the asses they are however.
Maybe it is teaching elementary school for 12 years but I have to tell you. I never get the keyboard tough guy act of going to other’s boards and boasting. I tell my students worry about yourself.

Had to look him up. Did not even realize he is on the roster.

No it’s not. You don’t see Mets fans go to the Yankee forums and talk junk with the same Douchery that the obnoxious fans do when they come over. They’re some miserable people who have that crabs in a barrel mentality.

Amazing they they have come out only in the past week after being absent for months.

Who is going over to the Yankee thread and posting anything this year? Only you do, trying to make nice, and they could give 2 $hits on what you say.

I don’t care to make nice- I like baseball and no reason to troll. I do troll WB every once in a while as it seems he gets his panties in a bunch when I go over and don’t agree with him

If you’re talking about me, I actually got banned on this board for a day for making a general sarcastic post. But yet the trolls are allowed to be trolls here for no reason.

So take your judgemental name calling attitude out of here.
Yes. This is a child-like post complaining about being put in time out and that it isn’t fair and that Joey should get a time out too.

Ya think? LMFAO. PS. I wish we had Cashman as our GM. I think he had a slam dunk of a trade deadline. They were in a death spiral, similar to what we see with the Mets, and Cashman pulled their asses out of it. I believe he gets GM of The Year. 😛

What Joey are we talking about? I'd have a $hit load to talk about then. Not worth seeing the same characters over on the pay site just to ask about the last 7 months, hahahaha. Buyers Remorse?

Oh yes you do! And in the Phillies too. Your resident 2008 can't help himself

Imagine a team bunting when the opposing team is basically giving it to you. Imagine the same team hitting away from the shift.
